Guest guest
Fran, thank you for this great explanation/clarification and for providing the link. I am sure this will help folks make their own risk/benefit assessments with more confidence. For all of you, Fran has appropriately questioned my earlier post about pred lowering or masking IgE, citing several studies in which it was shown to raise IgE. The last time I got my own IgE level taken I was on pred and asked my doc about the possibility of it masking my IgE and me getting a lower score and getting renewed at a lower dose of Xolair incorrectly. He said that it wouldn't affect me too much and that even if it did mask some of my IgE, I make so much of it anyway that it wouldn't bring my score down to the point of affecting my doseage. Also, pred masking IgE has been going around the webMd board for a while. I > > have been on Xolair since September 2003. Two shots every two weeks. > > > After all those shots, not ONE reaction.
