Guest guest
Dawn, I'm doing about the same!! I actually go in tomorrow for a colonoscopy OH BOY!!!! How I love drinking HalfLytely!! NOT!!! I did go see a new doctor this last week, he is an internal med doc. He suspects that I have a malabsorption issue. So they are testing me for celiac and some other ones, he told me that those can cause a whole host of issues and you won't find it unless you look for it! So I'm waiting on those tests to come back. I still have had the fever and side pain and all the other lovely things!! I guess I wasn't posting much cuz no one was finding much!! They do actually know that something is up!!! Just not sure what it is that's causing it!! My immune system is shot and they are trying to figure out why!! Thanks for asking about me!! I will keep you posted!! Guest guest
Hi I have been off email for a couple of days again (work has been nuts). I am so glad you replied and I am sorry that things are still frustrating and even sorrier that you got blasted for sharing about your troubles. I will keep thinking about you and hoping you get some answers. I remember how vindicated I felt when they finally diagnosed me with achalasia and I could prove to the doubters and the skeptics that there was something the matter with me...... your moment will come and when it does we will all cheer!! all my best dawn how are you? Guest guest
Dawn, Thanks!! All I can keep telling myself is " I'm not nuts, I'm not nuts, there is something wrong " LOL!!! Hopefully it won't be much longer! On the E side of things.I did go to Cleveland and had a dilation done, but I'm still having some issues in that area and I'm considering an E ectomy when I'm healthier!! What does your diet consist of right now? Are you going back to UPMC for further analysis? Maybe an endoscopic dilatation is all you need? > > Keep us posted. > Cara > Cara, From what I see on your posts you will be getting another a new wrap done by Dr. Luketich. If things don't work out for me I think I will probably go with the Ectomy before I retire and lose my insurance.I'm 55 now so I'm looking at less than 10 years and I think I would want Dr. L doing mine. That would be a major decision and I would look at all other avenues before heading down that road.Overall I don't think i'm in that bad of shape ,but my esophagus must be from what Dr. Jobe says.I will find out more Tuesday.Later! Guest guest
Hey , I am going for my 1st myotomy. No new wrap for me. Completely the 1st time i have ever gotten anything done except for a dilatation 14 years ago. That is why Dr. L is even attempting to do this for me. Its because of no prior surgeries. i wonder why Dr. Jobe thinks your E is in such bad shape? I don't recall you saying that you suffered from Achalasia for that long? Could your E be stretched out in a short period of time? When you go in on Tuesday , ask some important questions about your anatomy. Get these answers if you can: 1) The diameter of your E at the largest point. 2) Does your E turn? If so, where and how? Does it fight gravity to get food down? 3) What is your resting LES pressure (before and after surgery)? 4) What type of wrap did you get (Dor or Toupet)? 5) What is your emptying time for the barium? The answers to these can give a better picture of the state of your E. I wouldn't rush into the mindset of the ectomy just yet. However, you do want to make sure that you are in good enough health should you need it. But you say your swalowing is bearable right now? What are you eating? Can you get it all down? Has it improved since you first posted here? i will pray for a good outcome on your visit Tuesday. Cara > > > > Thinking of you and wondering how your swallowing is. Any better? Any progress? Guest guest
Cara, I thought that you had already had one myotomy for some reason.I hope it works well for you. With Dr. L doing it you should have a fine outcome. Dr Jobe said that my E was spiral shaped and that it was in the advanced stages of Achalasia. It seems to still work pretty good though I think.Things don't go down right away sometimes but it just takes a little more time.I really don't remember when I first noticed swallowing problems.Maybe a couple of years ago.I do want to discuss this in more detail with my Doc next week.I think maybe he was exagerrating a little the last time, because things weren't going so well then.Thank you for the list of Questions.I've never seen some of them.Take Care. > > > > > > Thinking of you and wondering how your swallowing is.
