Skin and RAST testing inaccurate with Xolair treatment

I asked my allergist today while there while my daughter had skin testing

for a few foods about testing while getting Xolair shots. She said that the

testing is inaccurate while on Xolair and up to a year after stopping

Xolair. And this goes for both skin (scratch) testing and CAP RAST blood

tests due to the nature of Xolair. I do remember her saying something now

before I started the shots. I do remember her saying that Total IgE levels

are not reflective of allergic level once Xolair shots are started and will

not to accurate for up to a year after stopping Xolair.

So no testing for me for now.

B.

P.S. My 9 yr old daughter who tested positive for peanut at 1 yr old and

then was negative for almost 6 years, is skin testing once again positive to

peanut. Bummer. Egg and dairy are low enough to look at RAST levels and

possibly oral challenge.
