Guest guest
Hi Becki, My name is Lin and i have a son who had the same similair problem not to long ago.. he had a very nasty cough he had for weeks. took him to the hospital even for it. they gave him breathin treatments for the cough and nothing worked. the hospital gave him lidocain and some kind of broch treatment. that didnt work either. they also told me to give him cough meds that never worked anyways. what i tried on my own was. albuterol every 2-3 hours and one atrovent every 6-8 hours, plus chest pt. that worked for my son. it may work for you... I AM NOT A NURSE OR A DR. BUT PLEASE ADVISE YOUR DR. FIRST. I AM VERY THANKFUL TO GOD FOR XOLAIR EVERYDAY.. my son lived at the hospital many of times, but since taking the xolair. we was able to cut down the hospital visits some. thanks to god..... you just have to have faith in the lord and pray everyday. hope the info helps you, may god bless you and helps you. have an asthma free day Lin from Pittsburgh Pa asperqu <asperqu@...> wrote: I had to go to the pulmo dr today because I can't get rid of this cough. I sound like a cross between a bullfrog and a lovesick donkey! Because it was me- my dr was expecting the worst too. He said I should be the poster child for xolair. Chest films showed clear lungs(what's left anyway) and it isn't asthma. My lungs are going into bronchial spasms from the coughing. I'm not allowed to cough because my severe coughing has damaged my lungs, vocal cords and trachea in the past. The fact there isn't any asthma involved this time is a miracle. I had an asthma flare up after Christmas, but it was caused by a cold, stress and our office moved. Remember, xolair only works on the allergic part of asthma; not the other triggers. I had scratch tests for allergies as a kid- 50 scratches. Then my dr did 350 intradermal skin tests over a 2wk period on my arms. Intradermal is like a needle TB test, not that pronged thing. I've had several drs suggest re-testing as an adult. I have refused;I didn't thnk it would make a difference in the long run. I couldn't take allergy shots so we only treated the symptoms. Does anyone have any ideas on how NOT to cough? I'm on tussalon pearls, lidocane in my nebulizer and hycodin at night. becki __________________________________________________
