Guest guest
, I am a true believer in that we should listen to our bodies. I had one of those " tired " days yesterday myself. I listened to my body and sat it out. This morning, I was down 1 lb since yesterday. I am wondering if I was overtraining. Whatever it was, I'm glad I did it. I jumped right back in with both feet today. Good Luck! Angie
Guest guest
, I think that perhaps the allergies might be the crux of the matter. I don't have major allergies, but they do flare up when the pollen count is high and I'm stupid enough to go outside. I took a bike ride with my daughter yesterday, and I was totally miserable by the time I got home--my eyes were red, itchy and watery, and I couldn't stop sneezing and dripping for at least an hour. I was tired the rest of the day, and I woke up tired this morning, which is not normal for me. So I did an easy 1 hour cardio workout in the living room this morning. I'm just assuming you're talking about pollen allergies. My advice is to do indoor cardio; avoid being outside as much as possible while the pollen is flying. Guest guest
Your HIIT intensity will vary from workout to workout just like your body weight, strength, appetite, mood, and a zillion other things vary from day to day. It's not realistic to think that you're going to consistently get faster and faster and never drop back or have an off day. If you're recovering from surgery, maybe your HIIT involves pushing an IV pole down a hospital hallway and sitting to rest every few feet. If you're recovering from a cold or you've had two hours of sleep, maybe your intensity is half of what it normally is. As long as it's challenging and pushing the limits of your capabilities *at that time* then you're still hitting a 10 and you haven't messed up or cheated on anything. Now, for the exhausted situation, how many hours of sleep are you getting per night? Most muscle repair and recovery happens during sleep. The harder you train, the more rest you need. If you were getting by on 6-7 hours per night pre-BFL, you might suddenly need more like 9-10 hour per night. You might also need more naps. If the sleep situation is ok, make sure you're getting enough calories and carbs, and that you haven't gone cold-turkey on caffeine. Any of those can leave you feeling like you've been hit by a truck. > Hey all! > Ok so today is my cardio day... Guest guest
Its really, really allergy season when Claritin is cleard off the shelves and has to be sold behind the registers at the local chain drug store...I feel ya. I sneezed and spurted so much liquid when it hit that I felt like Id been through a mild heart attack by the end of the day. Needless to say, I was DAMN! tired and dehydrated. Its like having a cold, without the virus scare/sympathy. > > Hey all! > > Ok so today is my cardio day... Guest guest
You mention allergies...any chance you have a sinus infection? I know that, for me, the first sign is extreem wearyness. Ive been known to fall asleep while on hold on the phone. Barbara > > Hey all! > Ok so today is my cardio day... Guest guest
That's a good way to put it, because today, even tho it was slower than I had gone in 8 weeks, it was still really hard for me. Ok let's do some troubleshooting here... #1 Allergies (oh and yes I mean the outdoor pollen/grass/weed/tree ones)... I'm not stuffy and I don't have a runny nose, it's really just my eyes are irritated and I cough and sneeze a lot in the morning when I first wake up... BUT I did some research online and lethargy is REALLY REALLY common in people who have allergies, even if they don't have a whole slew of traditional symptoms... But what's weird is that the weather has been allergy perfect (ie, HIGH in every category) for a month now, why would I just feel tired now? Thank god its going to rain all next week, I know that will help a little bit... #2 Sleep... I average about 8 hours I think... usually fall asleep around 1am and get up around 9am... Then twice a week I let myself sleep in as late as I want (Wednesdays and Saturdays) so I try to get around 10 hours those days... But this week, I went to bed at like midnight on friday and didn't wake up until 11am or so and was having to DRAG myself out of bed... Hmmm. #3 FOOD.... My ratios are about 40% carbs, 40% protien, and 20% fat... I track everything on fitday... Here's what I think is the weirdest thing about all of this... Last Wednesday I decided to eat 1500 calories a day instead of the 1000-1200 I was averaging following BFL's portion rule. Then 2 days later I'm wiped out? It would seem like MORE calories would give me more energy... BUT, could it be that my body is finally getting enough calories to do some serious muscle building and that's what it's doing and that's why I'm wiped out? Just a thought... I think that's my favorite solution to this lol... But if that's what it is, do I just have to tough it out? Thanks! Guest guest
I am 2 month post op of my 3 level fusion, still in pain and numbness cant sleep, forget laying down, my back feels so tight not sure if it is swelling still or just the way life will be...i had a laminectomy microdisectomy last feb one 1 level and i had a rough time recovering. I ended up having to fly and be away from all my comfy things 5 months post op last time and ended up making my recovery longer, actually had to delay my return flight just to rest. I am supposed to go to a wedding and I will be 6m post op at the time. We are looking at a 7 hr flight with 1 switch and 4 days aways from all my stuff again. Dr wont say yes or no, to early I have not started fusing yet and I am usually a good bit behind typical recovery (my hysterectomy took me 6 good months instead of the 3 they expected and my back took over a year and ended up needing a 3 level fusion instead) so I am not sure of where I will be at the 6month mark. Any advice, stories etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks , Sparks NV
