Guest guest
I am hoping my problems aren't going to require surgery or anything but I am happy to discover that the potential exists. A Lumbar Laminectomy sounds scary. I went to the chiropractor 3 times and got a deep tissue massage twice over the last two months and the muscles feel real weak and I have a sharp pain in what I believe is called the lumbar area. It is right at the corner of the shoulder, neck, and back and more painful on my right side with joint pain out to the shoulder. I'm hoping it is just worn out and swollen muscles but this is the worst it has been compared to other intermitten pain I've experienced before. I'm just going to let it be for a month or two and go from there. If I need a Lumbar Laminectomy for some reason I might not have to regard it as an emergency surgery and do it when I am more sure of it if needed. That's a big " if " in my mind right now. Maybe I need to move around more since I seem to be in the car, in the office, or in the living room alot in sedentary positions. > stay away from the chiropractor. after my lumbar laminectomy when all > other therapies didn't work they sent me to a chiropractor for my lumbar > area. he told me I was totally out of wack....my neck was crooked. he > proceeded to make an adjustment on my neck. let me tell you....about 30 > minutes later I started with such neck and head pain I thought I was having > a stroke! Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I'm usually a lurker and read each and every one of the posts. I've picked up a lot of useful information and now have a question that I don't recall having been addressed. I've already had my cervical fusion of C3 through C6 and posterior decompression laminectomy on March 3rd of this year. I have recovered nicely with no more pain from that problem. Now I will be scheduling a lumbar laminectomy of L2 through L5. I have no idea of what the recovery will be like - the level and duration of the pain directly after surgery and what I might expect of total recovery time. I will be going to a rehab facility afterwards and wonder if sciatic pain can be expected to disappear after surgery. If anyone has had this surgery, could you fill me in on just what I should expect. I would be very grateful. Arlene in Michigan I now have pain from the right lumbar region, into the hip, then down my leg to about knee level. The pain I had in my left leg disappeared after my cervical surgery. It was the same pain I'm having now in the right leg. I had the same kind of pain in both rear thigh areas. I can't figure out why it went away on one side but not the other. I use a walker to get around and am on pain meds for that pain. I still do have balance problems but I haven't fallen so I don't want to push my luck,. My cervical surgery was postponed because I did fall about 3 to 4 days beforer and I broke my pelvis. So, the pain from surgery was exascerbated by the pain of the fractures (2).
