What is the difference in a neurologist and a neurosurgeon?

I went to the Neurosurgeon at Vanderbelt in Nashville and feel as if

the Dr did listen to me and gave me good advice. He said, you

everything looks right, at your age it is normal to have some bulging

discs ( I am 49). Surgery will not correct what is wrong with your

spine. You need a good Neurologist and a really good pain management

doctor. WE live in a small town at least 60 miles away from any good

hospitals or doctors. Has anyone here had problems with you GP and

other doctors that look at you and say all you want are pills. There

is nothing wrong with you. The pain is unbearable at time and my head

feels as if it is about to blow up. The pain medication does not seem

to work very good anymore. I need a doctor that will help with med,

and therapy. If there is anyone here around the Cape Girardeau MO or

Sikeston MO area. HELP!

Thanks

Any feedback from anyone else would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

Willing to go to Memphis or St louis also.
