Guest guest
Just got home from my L5-S1 Lumbar Spine Fusion with decompression today. Had a rough time with pain control while I was in there but seem to be doing a little better today. For anyone who has had the procedure. How long does the accute hurting all the time feeling last? I have been improving with mobility and they say I am ahead in walking about and sitting in chairs for small bits of time...but the pain is not a whole lot better than it was the first day. Have some burning pressure feleing down my left buttock and back of the upper leg. Morings are better htan evenings and last evening I noticed that that pain in the hip, buttock and back of the upper leg was feelig wose than the actual surgical site. Is this normal? Will it go away? " Without rabbits a rabbits foot would be nothing but a disembodied hand full of unidentified toes. " -Pogo
Guest guest
Thanks for your reply - the pain is WORSE in the same area - but also radiating across my tops of legs - down legs etc - and also across the lower back right across. Workers Compensation would only pay for me to have this done first. (ie Trigger point injection, or should I perhaps say my Doctor suggested this First.  If this doesn't work (which it hasn't) they are going to do it by X-Ray - Do you think I would only get worse than what Iam - or could I get better - it is aching to sit - lay down , walk (try too) etc - my gosh bracing myself for another night - today has been horrible - I have Soma, doesn't work (think they might be MINTS!!! also have Vicoden, which doesn't even touch the pain, just makes me feel sick to the stomach. Have Flector Patch - no use - Oh gosh sorry for sounding a PAIN!! Guest guest
Thanks for your reply, that is what I have been diagnosed with SI Joint Dysfunction. I am on my 2ND Doctor (only 1 time change) w/c/ sent me to another Or tho Dr. But this Or tho Dr didn't do Injections, so they sent me to this Doctor " who is pain management " sitting on my donut pillow, which does help a little - while on the computer, guess it takes the pressure off. No I will not let them do this again, as it is the most painful experience, since getting this injection, thought I was bad before, but this is not pleasant at all. I am so worried., as if this is the way I will have to live in this pain, I just don't know how I will ever cope, might as well be bedridden - I am a positive person, but after nearly 1 year of this it is wearing thin. Gosh, thanks for this group, it just lets me voice what I'm feeling, and I know others are a lot worse off - Doctor closed today, so will ring in the am. Thanks From: Me <ellijaygal@...> Subject: Re: Trigger Point Injection Question spinal problems Date: Monday, January 3, 2011, 3:25 PM  I would be on the phone with that doctor telling him how much worse you feel and asking him what HE is going to do about it!!!! The only injection I have EVER allowed anyone to do on me was a SI Joint Injection and it hurt me for days. Needless to say I didn't let them do it again because when the pain subsided from the injection I could feel no difference in the original pain. Can you not get w/c to send you to another doctor since this doctor sticks needles in you without even having the fluroscopy to see where he is putting it? I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. > > > > Hi to all, and Happy New Year and may our health GET BETTER!!!??? > > > > I have a question, I had a trigger point injection Dec 20 - in sacrum -coccyx area(oops spelling). > > I had mild relief for about 3 hours. Guest guest
This is not true in some states. In some states they have long lists of doctors you can see and you can choose from that list but you can't see anyone you want to. If things get worse like you should need surgery then you get to choose the doctor to do the surgery. I have a friend in Rhode Island that is going through this right now. Guest guest
Has anyone ever said anything about a spinal disease called Arachnoiditis? It is a disese of the spine. You need to look it up on the computer and see if you fit the criteria for this disease it can cause great pain and in some cases it causes pazalysis or numbness in certain areas of the lower part of the body. You can get it in your neck area also. Guest guest
You need to see another doctor if your having problems especially at the L-5 S-1 area and you say your having the trouble at this site it could very well be the disc that is out causing all your trouble. Have you had an MRI? if the same doctor is reading the tests then please take the time and effort to get a second opinion. Make sure you take the films with you to the doctors appointment don't just take the report take both. Janice Re: Trigger Point Injection Question I have just been diagnosed with si joint disfuntion as well and would really like some more info about it. I do have herniated/bulging disks as well but the doctor thinks the si joints are my main cause of all my pain, numbness, siatica etc. It has got much much worse this winter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
Janice is right. It varies by state, but most states have a clause that allows you to seek a second opinion (and treatment) from a doctor not on the panel after a certain time frame. This time frame varies by state to state as does the clause itself. and the gang -- jacdobe@... Guest guest
Beware, beware, beware!!! They have wanted to do this injection on me for long time. They use it as a " diagnostic tool " . Read this page, I am sure there are others like it http://www.eorthopod.com/content/sacroiliac-joint-injections Yes, when they poke me in that area, it is somewhat painful, but I have a hard time explaining to the Docs that it is NOT THE SOURCE OF MY PIAN !!! But still they want to inject me. So far, I have said no. (I wonder how much they charge for that.) They really do not listen when I try to describe my pain. My pain clinic has opened a new office closer to where I live, so now I have a new medical person I go see. AAAKKKK! The first session I had with him, he suggested that some of my pain, muscle spavins, severe cramping, could be attributed to an 'electrolyte imbalance', and asked me if I drank " juice " ... OK... Was kinda stumped on that one... what kind of juice?'''...(what would you think?). Then he said ORANGE JUICE... thinking afterwood I should of said, " Gee, can you ferment that into a liquor? " ) Totally ridiculous. When my pain is bad, it feels like someone has reached into the flesh of my lower back, grabbed my spinal cord, and is trying to yank it out. Hmmmm... ya think orange juice is gonna fix that??? in NH
Guest guest
you need to see another pain doctor and on your very first visit make sure you have a lot of questions for him/her then tell them how you feel about certain things. Tell him/her that you are not interested in injections in any form. They can and do cause major problems that can't be taken back.Ask what he/she is thinking about doing to you that would help you. I always interview the doctor before I let them touch me. This guy is a nut case. Orange juice will not stop or help your problems.
