Guest guest
yes, all ins co require it. they want to make sure you are comforable with knowing you have something implanted in you .I went thru it too although he talked more about everything else rather than the implant From: <ljorichardson0912@...> Subject: neurostimulator spinal problems , neck pain Date: Thursday, November 5, 2009, 5:06 PM  I went and saw the physiatrist today and he discussed the neurostimulator implant. They were saying you have to see a physiciatrist 1st. Has anyone ever heard of this? Also what is the trial period implant like. Will I be able to drive home after it is implanted? Guest guest
Went to my pain doc yesterday and he is giving me the option of trying a neurostimulator, or seeing a surgeon for possible fusion surgery. Does anyone have any experience with the stimulator you can share? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. S*************
Guest guest
Hi I have many friends who have tried the stimulator although I have never used one but they say for the most part it helps them. But I am confused if your back is so bad you would need a fusion why would he offer the stimulator? The stimulator is to quiet pain but if the spine is damaged to the point where you could benefit from a fusion you might want to talk to another doctor about this. I had a fusion then they offered me different things for the pain after the fusion but the fusion worked for me and I didn't need anything else for 5 years then the metal was removed and I do have some pain but it is manageable with a small dose of methadone twice a day. I could be wrong here but I would get a second opinion. Guest guest
Thanks Janice..I am confused also. I will meet with the surgeon AND the stimulator place and try to figure out what they are talking about. I am on high doses of Oxycodone now, and it would be nice to be able to cut down.
