Guest guest
This past Sat. eve. I had my second series of Xolair injections - 2 shots of 150 mgs each every 2 weeks. I self injected at home and was pleased that this time I did not even have a bruise mark or inflammation; in fact, I can't even find the injection site on my arm!!! I had my hubby pinch the fat on my arm while I harpooned with the needle, then he let go so I could inject myself. We did a " pretend " run-through and discussion first. The only part that concerned me was that the syringe had 4 pin-head size bubbles and I know that bubbles are bad. I watched them carefully and they did not go into the needle; rather, they seemed to stay on the side of the barrel and go to the bottom as I pressed the plunger. Is that normal? Is there anything I should do? I was a little freaked about it but everything came out just fine. I talked to my doctor's coordinator ... I suggested that perhaps I could go to a higher dose (maybe 375) as my weight and IgE together actually put me in the grey " do not treat " area. Of course, I'm tired of these awful sinus headaches and want it to work ***right now *** !!! When I see the doctor she will do a PFT and we'll talk more about it. Question - what types of tests does a doc normally do when on Xolair? Any particular cancer or other screenings? Frivolous question - What do you do with the old bottles and syringes? My coordinator said I can bring them into the doc's office w/me. So far I've used the left-over sterile water to see how far I cold " eject " it from a syringe across the kitchen. Kind'a like spitting watermelon seeds as kids!!!! That was after I had finished with all the syringes. The bottles are so little and cute and at over $2,000 a pop I feel that I should decorate with them! Too early for Christmas, though!
