I save SI joint issues too, and injections didn't help me either. I wish I

had some advice for you but I really don't, other than don't give up and don't

settle. I take 3 meds a day for pain.

Hi ,

Have you had any PT yet? Has your doc offered different muscle

relaxers? Do you get any releif from hot/cold pacs? Have you

gotten several 'opinions'? There are times you can go to a

specialist and be told there is 'nothing' wrong. Your pain tells

you otherwise, and pain doesn't lie.

Have you tried keeping a pain journal? Have you altered your daily

activities to ease the things that trigger/intensify the pain?

It takes a while to figue it out, but there is a combination of

meds, therapy, rest, exercise that will combine to manage your pain.

There is always a reason for chronic pain, I know some folks who

waited years for a Dx that started effective treatment. Chronic

pain is life changing. You need to be aggressive in seeking help.

A couple of places to look for info:

I hope some of this helps.

I take Trileptal and I love it. I tried Neurontin and had nothing but problems

with it. Trileptal has many side effects also, but the only thing I had a

trouble with was fatigue and some mental " fogginess " until I adjusted to it. I

will NEVER take Neurontin again. I had a pain management specialist who

insisted I take it, and guess what? He's not my Dr. anymore!

Trileptal and Neurontin are both anti seizure meds that are comminly used for

chronic pain, especially nerve pain. My insurance company prefers people take

Neurontin because it's cheaper than Trileptal. I got around that by having my

Dr. write a letter stating why he preferred using Trileptal.

Hope I helped!

My doc put me on neurontin and after some extensive research, I founf that

people taking Neurontin for an extended period of time had a high rate of

depression and suicide. Therefore, I wouldnt take it.. My doc put me on it

because I have had pretty significant memory retention loss due to being on

prescription narcotics for the past 3 years.. I wouldnt reccomend taking it.. Im

not sure about Trileptal...

Tony, I don't know if I've ever mentioned this in any of my other posts,

but you might want to ask your doctor about something called Lyrica, the

" new and improved " nerve pain drug from the same manufacturer of

Neurontin. Lyrica reduces nerve pain and is also a mild anti-anxiety

medication.

Do you have a source for that data about Neurontin and depression and suicide?
