Guest guest
I went to the doctor today to discuss the all over itching after the first shot on Friday. He felt it was an anaphylactoid reaction to the xolair, mild because I'd been pretreated with prednisone and antihistamines before the shot, due to my anaphylaxis history. He said I could possibly tolerate more xolair with the same protocol, but the risks are too high to justify unknown potential benefit. So no more xolair for me. I'm extremely disappointed, since this drug seems to help so many people have more normal lives and I was hoping for the same. Thank you for your thoughts about what was wrong and I will definitely recommend this site to other patients who are considering trying xolair. You have a lot of information here. Guest guest
Oh, , my heart goes out to you. Your doctor's response does make a lot of sense though. My hope for you is that a new treatment comes down the pike very soon, one that you can tolerate much better and that will give you back the healthy life you yearn for. Guest guest
Hi , I wish you the best I know it is dissapointing. I'm glad you did not have a major anaphylactic response though. Thank you for your comments even though this is a great option for treatment and most of the members have had success and little or no side effects. Your post maybe important for someone who is having symptoms and may want to belittle or ignore them because they want the Xolair to work so bad. I am new to the group and have only had one treatment so far. I believe few people have this response but it is important to be aware and prepared but not paranoid. For others who are thinking about using this treatment to me the benefit outweighed the risk. And I if I ever did have issues then I would do the same thing as and follow my doctors advice. I'm optimistic and waiting to see how the Xolair helps me. Laurie > > > > I went to the doctor today to discuss the all over itching after > the > > first shot on Friday. Guest guest
Sorry to hear of your reaction and that you can no longer take Xolair. I am in the same boat as you though! My doctor said no more after my last shot because of itching and breathing problems a little bit afterwards. I had itching after my previous shot BUT they said it was most likely not the xolair because it didnt start til hours afterwards. I also have a history of anaphylaxis (My allergy shots put me in ICU on a ventilator right before this past Thanksgiving after taking them for 6 months) I didn't realize that I was actually having improvement from being on Xolair til I was told no more though. Except for some improvement in my spirometry results. Hopefully something new will come along for us in the future. (( HUGS )) Keep your head up. --- In , " " <shuttsgirl@...> wrote: > > I went to the doctor today to discuss the all over itching after the > first shot on Friday.
