Guest guest
Hi there: No, I've never heard of this. And I don't see how wearing a helmet/band could cause A.D.D.. Don't even get me started on A.D.D. , Abby's grandma thinks EVERY child has this disorder, and if she heard helmets can cause it, oh boy, I don't even wanna think what she'd be saying. Ugggggggggg. I wouldn't worry about it! Debbie Abby's mom > Hello, I was told that a helment can cause A.D.D. Guest guest
Dear & , There have been many individuals who have misinterpreted the results of a recent study out of Seattle, and I suspect this may be the case here. The study is: " Long-Term developmental outcomes in Patients with Deformational Plagiocpehaly " by MD, and Sterling Clarren MD. It was published in the February 2000 issue of Pediatrics. A direct link to the article is: http://www.pediatrics.org/cgi/content/full/105/2/e26 This study concluded that infants with deformational plagiocephaly were more likely to require additional services (physical therapy, speech therapy, learning assistance etc) as they become school age. The researchers did show that this was true regardless of whether a child was treated with a helmet or not. Interestingly, it was only true for males with plagiocephaly and not females. However, the overall consensus from the physicians I've spoken with is that the developmental delays caused plagiocephaly, and not vice versa. I don't believe A.D.D. was mentioned anywhere in that article, so if your physician is referring to a different study would you mind forwarding the information on? Thanks. Sincerely, Tim Littlefield, MS Cranial Technologies, Inc. > Hello, I was told that a helment can cause A.D.D. Guest guest
Since you're giving oil to a child, it can cause a looser stool than usual. If you see this happening and are concerned, start with 1/2 a cap and work your way up. We also found that giving something like bread or crackers WITH the oil helped this. Otherwise, look for slightly more naughty behaviour coinciding with more advanced play behaviour. Many here have indicated a " naughty " period after starting EFA - I think it's improved wiring and overstimulation. Let them burn off steam by running around and keep them quiet if they get too wild. If you're wondering about TRUE side effects - like Vit A poisoning or something - I've not heard about it. It would be like overdosing on salmon. You could probably do it, but it'd be pretty hard. Think of it as Cod Liver Oil - may help, may not, but probably isn't going to hurt you. If you're making the decision to try it, I went back and forth for months and now regret it. My older son's speech got a bit clearer, but the CONTENT changed drastically! My younger son (2.5) was essentially non-verbal until we put him on it. Now he has probably 30 words and lots of different sounds. Buy one bottle (of the good stuff from Nordic Naturals) and don't tell anyone and see if you don't notice the difference... Email me if you have questions... Guest guest
Thanks so much for the great response. Please tell us what to order. Our son is 2 yrs 4 months, He's been in a terrific Verbal Behavior - Natural Environment program for about 3 months now and he's doing very well. We've started with sign language and now he's making every effort to speak and has some words, but 2 evaluations are now saying he's most likely apraxic. I looked at the Nordic Naturals site but there's a whole bunch of products so I'm a bit confused. Thanks again!
Guest guest
I haven't heard of anyone posting with those side effects, except possibly bp. The problem with bp, is that it can be caused by a number of factors, so it's kind of hard to attribute it to a new med. I would definitely talk to your regular MD about it. Welcome to the group! Guest guest
I still have the tan I got when I went to Puerto Rico in 2007. I try to stay out of the sun, but just walking from the car into the store and I turn brown. My covered body is white, but the exposed parts will probably stay tanned forever. It probably depends on the amount of melanine you have. I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months, so far they are okay. Would love to have a full set of pearly whites, but I don't. Nearly bought a mouthful till I heard the price of $6,000. Decided I better hold on to my money. Health care is going down the tubes and one never knows when one may need the mad money to pay the docs. I hope this helps. I have been on Minocin since 12/2005. The best to you, Dolores & Mike From: marlaprendergast <kws11@...> Subject: rheumatic side effects? rheumatic Date: Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 9:59 PM Please don't think this a shallow question, but how frequently do the alleged side effects of skin and teeth darkening due to AP treatment occur? I think feeling good about how one looks goes a long way toward a positive attitude about oneself and one's health, so I am just wondering if this is a very common side effect, or one that goes away. Guest guest
I am a big outdoor person, it makes me feel great, and to stay indoors would be a death sentence. But I heard that sunscreen makes the problem worse? Is this true? > > > From: marlaprendergast <kws11@...> > Subject: rheumatic side effects? > rheumatic > Date: Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 9:59 PM > > > > > > > > > Please don't think this a shallow question, but how frequently do the alleged side effects of skin and teeth darkening due to AP treatment occur?
