Terry I for one am very proud of you. Ten years ago I weighed 216 pounds and I

am only 5'2 inches tall. I knew the fat was killing me my blood pressure was out

of sight. I started out walking about 1/2 a block and increased it a little each

day until I got up to 5 miles a day 7 days a week. I lost 100 pounds in 8 months

and I was never hungry or without a balanced diet. I have kept the weight off

for all these years too. I am gaining some now because I stopped smoking last

month so I know I am going to gain some weight but I will deal with that once

the cravings stop.

You have done a wonderful thing for yourself keep up the good work.

Weight Watchers

Hey, everyone!

It's been a long time since I posted. I had my third back surgery about a year

ago.

I joined Weight Watchers in September, and I've lost almost 55 pounds. I only

have a few more pounds to be in a normal BMI. I've been overweight for 17 years

beginning with my first pregnancy. I love Weight Watchers!

I sustained nerve damage in my leg after my back collapsed the second time and

again last year. I've been unable to exercise including walking for exercise. I

could walk around the house and the store for short distance before the

discomfort would get pretty bad.

I don't know if it's the weight loss or just time or a combination of both,

but I've been walking for 2 weeks now. I've built up to walking 23 minutes (1.36

miles). I feel great! My leg still has the nerve damage, and I still " feel " it,

but I don't have the same amount of discomfort at all. I'm actually enjoying my

walks.

I know I wouldn't be where I am now without the weight loss. People are amazed

I could lose the weight without exercising, and I wasn't hungry. If any of you

are in the same boat I was, I want to encourage you to try Weight Watchers

yourself. I know being able to walk again is going to do wonderful things for my

back not to mention just making me feel so much better in general.

Terry :)

I have had a total of 5 back surgeries in the past 40 years and I have been at

different weights during each one and never once did the doctor tell me I needed

to lose weight. I looked at myself on my 50th birthday and said to myself old

girl your going to die if you don't lose that weight you are going to die so I

took it off. I never felt better than I did in that year.5 miles a day I was

walking and I felt wonderful each day. I am a steroid taker due to breathing

problems na dthe steroids are a must to keep me alive but each round of them

puts weight on me that is hard to take off. Right now I have been on Prednisone

for over a year some pretty high doses too. Once off the steroids I will get rid

of the 15 pounds I have put on.

Re: Weight Watchers

Terry,

Congratulations on achieving something so amazing. Losing that much weight

will have several major positive impacts on your health, as you're already

seeing. I too lost quite a bit of weight prior to my recent surgery (and

mode after), and it makes life so much easier to not have to carry around so

much weight, and while I didn't notice the difference in pain pre-surgery,

I'm sure it would have been worse after surgery had I not lost that weight.

Plus, it makes it trickier for the surgeon when you are heavier, so anything

you can do to increase the chances of success of a surgery is worth it.

Ok, enough rambling. Sorry about that. Again, congratulations!
