Guest guest
I think I would be heading for some second opinions. Â It will take at least 3 months to get into the doctor and each time I have seen him before there really hasn't been much change in treatment. So I must ask you your opinion... A few years back I had a spinal fusion L4-L5-S1 with Laminectomy. My problem is that I get this twitchy radiating feeling running down my legs, usually pain here or there from mid back to toes. Last trip to doc I was delivering pizza and one leg was throwing me around in bed at night literally. I have extreme sensitivity to the hips and surgical site. Now my feet are causing trouble that just isn't getting diagnosed and I have extreme pain after walking that seems to bring on the twitchy radiating feeling. I have rheumatoid arthritis also. I just do not know what doctor to see. The spinal surgeon said the best relief would be to remove the bars but he did not recommend it. Last summer I was hurting very badly in R foot and it broke. Went to step out to the porch. The break has never healed correctly and the orthopedic pushes on that area and it does not hurt. My ankle swells and the doctors say my legs are swelling. When I am struggling the most I seem to stumble and fall more often. What would you do?

Guest guest
Look up Arachnoiditis on the computer also look up Quada Equina Syndrome. I think you will find a description there at those sites. I am not a doctor I am only a person who has had back trouble, surgeries and all that goes with them. If you feel that these describe you then you need to see a doctor who has knowledge of these problems. Janice Radiculopathy or Neuropathy or ????? Guest guest
They say that the MRI and the bars are incompatible. The magnets vs the metal. The symptoms are pain in my right low back on standing. It gets very intense. Pain in my feet on walking. And a nerve or muscle issue in my Right leg, sometimes my left. Sometimes it feels like a needle poking repeatedly. Sometimes it feels like a radiating twitching that shoots through right above the knee down through the foot. And it actually jumps and shakes and I cannot control it. It gets so bad I get nauseated. My toes feel really cold occasionally and sometimes it feels like something is crawling on me. UGH. ________________________________ From: Janice <faraway1@...> spinal problems Sent: Thu, February 10, 2011 5:35:03 PM Subject: Re: Re: Radiculopathy or Neuropathy or ?????  Why are they not able to do an MRI on a surgical site? This is a puzzle. What symptoms are you still having if you have had surgery? Janice Re: Radiculopathy or Neuropathy or ????? Guest guest
what I have been told is the rods are titanium and the screws are metal. If given an MRI and a screw has worked loose it could be an issue. The MRI that was given down the right leg. They had to pack it down so tightly it put my foot to sleep. As I said I cannot control the twitching or movement. They gave up on the second try. Said that I should follow up with an orthopaedic. I have been to an orthopaedic and will go again next week. I am slowly moving less and less and getting broker and broker and still no diagnosis. If I go to the grocery store I am completely miserable by the time I get home. Have I answered your questions. > > > > It will take at least 3 months to get into the doctor and each time I have seen > > > > > >him before there really hasn't been much change in treatment. > > So I must ask you your opinion... > > A few years back I had a spinal fusion L4-L5-S1 with Laminectomy. Guest guest
Titainium IS metal...but it is hypoallergenic. I have Titanium rods and screws in my spine fusion I just had done in December and I have a metal alloy allergy. I have had no problems with the metal so far. Guest guest
With Titanium you can also have an MRI without problems. When the doctor took out my hardware he broke off a screw in my back that will be there forever but I still have an MRI every 2 years to make sure all is well.
