Guest guest
I have some questions about back braces. The nature of my injuries causes my hips to rock up on one side or the other. The only pain I get is when that happens, so the back brace I get is supposed to keep that (the rocking back and forth) from happening. So, I went to my appointment at the orthotics place and was shown the Overlap LSO: http://www.cornerstonepo.com/Orth%20Spinal.asp (1st and the 2nd ones down) The brace would go from arm pits to tailbone, and I'll have to wear it for life. It appears this will severely restrict movement, keep me from driving, sitting, or walking, and definitely keep me WAY LESS MOBILE than I am now. Hmmm, that's not good. So, I started playing around with foam rubber and came up with a dense foam rubber belt similar to a soft cervical collar, but for around my waist. Cinched up tightly, it does seem to keep my hips from rocking so much. I left a message with my orthopod to discuss this. Maybe there is already something like this available. Input, anyone? Guest guest
There are several back braces and corsets on the market. I used a softteck brace right after my spine fusion that I really like. I would talk to your doctor and discuss other options. " Without rabbits a rabbits foot would be nothing but a disembodied hand full of unidentified toes. " -Pogo spinal problems From: k9gang@... Guest guest
I just spent quite a while looking thru a wide variety of back braces. I discussed my idea with my orthopod, physical therapist, and the orthotics guy. Today I'm heading up to the Foam Shop in Richmond BC (next door to hubby's work) to speak with them about making my " waist brace " . ....fun with foam rubber...
