Have had 3 Xolair series of shots so far (1-1/2 months) and returned to pulmo

today for follow up. I've been having a cold or flu and feeling terrible - sore

throat, tongue, congestion, runny nose, heavy mucous, fatigued, coughing,

difficulty sleeping, etc. for a week. All of late winter and spring have felt

bad. IgE was 350 last fall.

She did another PFT and despite and yucky condition my FEV1/I increased from

69.53, % PRED 84.6 in Oct 2006 to 72.90 % Pred 88.7 today! I think it's the

antibiotic I was on for 3 days (zithromyacin - 3 pills work for 10 days) but she

thinks it's the Xolair! She said I was looking for a miracle and she's right -

or just feeling good for a change and I sure don't now! I really do like the

pulmo though.

If Xolair was helping wouldn't I feel better? The general feeling has always

been that my chronic sinus problems are basically allergy and from allergy I

quickly go to infection.

I know that Xolair was reported to cause headaches and sore throat and sinus

infection in around 20% of patients but because I had this going on before

Xolair I told her I don't think it has anything to do with it.

Anyone else had this experience? Could it be a fluke just from one time to

another? I would think, though, that w/a cold it would be worse.

My pulmo also ordered CBC and liver function tests and tsh and some blood

chemistry stuff too. I assume this is what is recommended while on Xolair? No

complaints here - I'm glad she's doing it as I've had a lot of stuff wrong.
