Guest guest
Appropriate treatment for some of us may not be appropriate treatment for others. For example, I'm confident Terry's 8mg per day dose of pred makes good sense for him. For me, I'm younger than he is, I have several risk factors for osteoporosis and I already have documented 5% bone loss in my spine and 7% in my hip. (Course, I haven't gone back for a dexascan since 2003, since I don't want to know how much worse it might be!) Anyhoo, my pulmo and my GP don't want me on any pred if it can be helped for that reason. On the other hand, if I was at the point of breathing with pred and not breathing without it, both of them would say take the pred. Thank goodness for Xolair; now I need less pred and I need it less frequently.
