Guest guest
Suzi, I'm going to keep this recipe. I've been using nothing more than black " iced " tea on sunburns since I was a kid. The most important thing is to cool the burn down - take the heat out of it. As long as the skin is " hot/warm " it is still burning and damage is still being done to the skin. So I make a big bowl of black tea and add ice cubes until it is cold. Then I take an old wash cloth and dunk it in the tea, wring it out and apply it to the burn. The cold tea takes the heat out and stops the burning process. The tannic acids in the tea help give you a rich tan. No peeling and no pain. Donna ----- SUNBURN BATH Formula 1 cucumber 4 cups oatmeal 10 black tea bags 2 tablespoons rosemary leaves Instructions In a blender, puree the cucumber and pour into a mixing bowl. Add all other ingredients and stir well. Empty mixture into bath under running water. Stay in bath for about an hour. Use as many times per day as you like. Life Makes 1 application. Discard after use Apple cider vinegar also helps relieve the " burn " as does aloe vera.
Guest guest
Yep. My grandfather taught me about black tea when I was young. You will find that you will only tan and if you should burn it will be very short lived and turn almost overnight into just a tan. I know this is what changed with me when I went all raw and allowed my body to cleanse a lot. Now I don't burn anymore I just tan and quite quickly too. -- Peace be with you, Don " Quai " Eitner " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Guest guest
It is already happening Don! I was at a luncheon out in the warm, wonderful sun on Sunday for 6 hours and I did get burned. I came home and did use some iced black tea on the burn but I was already cold from the burn and it was late at night so I didn't apply the tea until all the heat had left the burn. Today I am a little pink but mostly I am tanned. I did wonder how it would be for me in the sun this year now that I am eating raw. The past couple of years I have itched terribly after being in the sun for any length of time - even after cutting out the refined sugar. This is a wonderful change for me - so many wonderful changes for me! Yea!!!!!! Guest guest
Sun or heat doesn't bother me as much as it used to before raw and I'm a fair skinned, red head. However, I also use coconut oil on my skin as a moisturizer and I think this also helps when I am out in the sun. If I do happen to burn I use coconut oil and my skin is healed by the next morning. Guest guest
That is really amazing Don. Maybe that’s why I’ve been burning easier (on the opposite end of the spectrum). I have always tanned well but have been burning on the chest and nose no matter how much sun screen I use lately. I guess I’ve gotten farther and farther from optimum health. I’m working on this raw idea more and more each day. The whole concept of needing a sunscreen goes against nature. The sun does not harm, the sun heals and is life. Commercial sunscreens have been proven and shown to be more detrimental to your health and ineffective at protection from the sun. If you feel you need to use something use something natural like olive oil. It has an SPF of 20 from all I have read. I don't know cause I don't use it but natural oils have certain SPF ranges all the way from probably 0 to 30. No need to apply laboratory conglomerations to your skin, adding chemical toxins into your body and concentrating the solar radiation and giving you a much deeper burn. My advice it to " Go natural. Yep, I would do a little dappled shade too, before venturing into a hot Jamaican sun. Although for me, I usually start my tanning as soon as the weather is warm enough to be outside getting it. Usually late Feb. By summer time I am about as tanned as I am gonna get and I don't burn nor peel. -- Peace be with you, Don " Quai " Eitner " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man.
