Guest guest
Hair loss, alopecia, can be caused by severe stress or by hormone deficiency associated with pregnancy, menopause, discontinuing birth control pills or by skin diseases, cosmetics, excessive sunlight or strong chemicals such as in cancer treatment, which interfere with nutrition of the hair follicles. Herbs recommended by Bartram are: Vitex Agnus Castus to help balance the hormones, Yellow Dock root to counter the toxicity of chemicals, also helpful in the case of eczema, silica-rich plants such as Horsetail, Burdock and Nettles to correct a mineral imbalance, Cayenne, Pleurisy root, Black Cohosh and Prickly Ash taken internally to promote the blood circulation to the scalp, and externally, a hair rinse of tea made from Rosemary, Sage and Yarrow to promote the scalp circulation. If stress is a factor, Oat straw and St. 's Wort can be helpful relaxing nervines. OrMake a tea for drinking three times a day, by combining a teaspoon of a mixture of Nettles (Urtica dioica) Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) and Horsetail (Equisetum arvense), steeped in a cup of boiling water for 15 minutes, then strained. A stronger tea, made by reducing the water by half and steeping for 30 minutes, can be used as a hair rinse each time you wash your hair. These herbs stimulate circulation and provide nutrients for encouraging hair growth. Horsetail should not be used internally for longer than six weeks. Suzi What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered. http://suziesgoats.wholefoodfarmacy.com/__________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi, I don't have alopecia per se, but have lost (and am losing daily) clumps of hair due to the inflammation of Lyme disease. I have been on LDN about 10-11 months, and though I have had many improvements, unfortunately restoration of my thick wavy (dare I say, lustrous ... no, I best not) hair has not been among them. Sorry. In a message dated 7/25/2008 6:00:09 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, donnathompson@... writes: Hi, I was wondering if anyone has tried LDN on alopecia areata. It is an autoimmune disease. Guest guest
Oh my, I forgot to say that I started MSM (still not sure how it works) the same day I started LDN. I had read many posts about LDN and MSM, decided to try it. I don't know what has boosted my hair growth, but I am grateful to all powers that may help me be a whole person again. I just want to get to the point that I can be the mother to my children (as adults) that I want to be. Our son will marry Nov. 08, and our daughter will marry June '09. I worry about the one in the middle, I sometimes wish they were all toddlers again (it doesn't usually last more than 15 seconds!
