That's a question you'd be better off addressing to Gittleman herself, but let me guess. when you have a chronic disease the body has reached a point where it realized it could no longer maintain homeostasis with what it takes to clear itself of toxins. When that happens it turns down the physical response, sort of like just focusing on keeping its head above water rather than swimming against a current driving one to distruction. It realizes it can only mass just so much strength with the resources it has on hand and still stay alive. If one has a chronic disease, yeah, detoxification is in order but sometimes the body isn't strong enough to handle a healthy response to health. This is where a thing called a healing crisis happens. If you've even known a person who smoked for years and then quit? As their body realizes it no longer is being attacted by the pollutant it starts to detoxify on its own. It allows coughs that are stronger than a weak clearing of the throat. It allows mucus to once again flush the membranes. The response can make the person feel as if they have one heck of a bad cold or flu. When the body is strong enough to do a healthy response to what has been polluting them in the past, great gobs of black tar might finally be coughed up from the lungs. Could the body have stayed alive to do that detoxification when they were much weaker in the chronic stage? You're off anti-depressants. Good! How much weight are you talking about loosing? How tall are you and what is your goal? Are you able to be physically active; take walks or go swimming? Your environment? Do you live by yourself or have a family to contend with while you go through this adventure? Is there scheduled time in your life for daily sessions of rest? These are things you need to ask yourself. They are all factors in your recovery. Hepatitis C is a major illness to deal with. If you survive it you might still have to deal with liver cancer down the road. Yes, I agree you need to do something. What are the various medical consultants that you are seeing suggesting that you do? In the mean time, while you ponder these questions, my suggestion for you is that you clean house. All those things you've been meaning to deal with, do them. Organize your closets and drawers. Fold socks and iron sheets if that's what it might take to straighten out your environment to a point that you can see the difference between you and it. You need clarity of thought. Environment can be a big factor in this. When you go in for a medical consultation, take a list of questions. Tape record the answers. Let the dr. naturopath, accupuncturist, nutritionist, what ever know that you want homework. Let them know you intend to research everything they say. Let them know you intend to play a principle role in your recovery. You aren't there to be " done " . You are ready to " do " . Pay attention to yourself during the recovery. 2 steps forward and one step back is not loosing ground. It might be part of the process. Good luck with your adventure, Penel
