Guest guest
I do have IBS and I also do not have a gall bladder although I have constant pain in that area. I eat whatever as well with the diver. although it does cause me a lot of pain when using the potty but that has been happening for years and I did try their fiber diet which didn't change anything.....still painful. That is why you are not supposed to eat anything with seeds, nuts, etc. Diverticulitis is the condition in which particles of food get stuck in the pockets causing them to become inflamed and very painful. I was diagnosed with diverticulosis during a routine colonoscopy. I have had no symptoms. At the moment I eat anything I want, but I have never had a flare. It is recommended to eat more fiber, fruit and vegetables, whole grains. Right now I have a problem with chronic constipation (all my ilfe, actually) that probably is the cause of the diverticulosis. I am on a pendulum that swings from constipation to diahhrea that I cannot hold. Doctors are trying to find out why. mary MorningGlory113@... wrote: Would like to hear anyone's story if they have or had it or know some one.. I'm in the process of giving him info.. more fiber foods, raw, etc.. I know people who have it and most of them are afraid to eat certain foods like corn. My understanding is that diverticulosis is caused when food lodges in the creases of the intestines and isn't eliminated. Food like seeds and corn aren't digested (they will come out whole) so lots and lots of chewing is very important. Meat is another one that putrifies rather than digests. Doctors won't tell you this but my theory is chewing each mouthful 50 times is very important. The one woman I know who has it kids and says she eats like a Doberman. She just about inhales her food and swallows it practically whole. I'm not surprised after years of eating like this, she's got food stuck down there. Chew, chew, and chew some more. And eat fiber and drink lots of water.Gloria
Guest guest
I saw a specialist to rule out other things. He says I have post cholesystectomy syndrome and has given me a medicine that binds the bile so it does not cause the diarhea and pain....tried other things and they haven't worked...even the things suggested here. My body is just weird....lol Kathy L.Angeldestiny's Dream NurseryRomanticsilk CraftsPlease cast your vote for my site on the Top 100www.romanticsilk.com ----- Original Message ----- From: Reilly health Sent: Friday, May 27, 2005 9:09 AM Subject: Re: Diverticulosis - Kathy I do have IBS and I also do not have a gall bladder although I have constant pain in that area. Guest guest
I am curious as to what meds he suggested for you. I have chronic diarhea (I myself use up to three rolls of TP a day) and almost nothing seems to help. I've altered my diet, used herbs, done cleanses and fasts (cleansing works for a about a week, then back it comes), stress relief, the works. The only thing that seems to work consistently for me is Immodium. I did some research on it, and found out it is based on an opium dirivitive, so I stopped taking it. Guest guest
Immodium has not worked for me. the doctor prescribed cholystyramine (not sure if the spelling is correct) I think they use it for people with high cholesterol as well but it works great for me. I try to take as little medicine as possible but I tried doing without this and altering my diet yet again and no go...had to start taking it again. I spent more time in the potty than with my kids(so I know what you mean)......and the pain was awful. I'm not totally pain free but it is 100 times better than before. They also tried me on bentylol but that just made me sick. Kathy L.
