Just want others in my position to be aware of some of the dangers. Alcoholics are not weak willed people, we are sick people. We have an allergy of the body and an obession of the mind when it comes to Barleycorn.

I totally understand the physical component of alcohol addiction and think you are very wise not to play around with it. In Dr. 's book The School of Natural Healing, he presents other ways that you can take the same herb...teas, capsules, etc. Maybe you should look into those formulas rather than alcohol based tinctures.

Thanks for the info, but I guess I'm just going to have to forgo even trying to tincture with any success as I refuse to use alcohol. Everclear was one of my drinks of choice while in Alaska in the 70's. I can't go there and when I read these instructions it makes me so sad and mad at the same time.

While there is a ton of great information on this list, tincturing makes me feel like a failure because of my disease called alcoholism. It is strange because I do take tinctures made from alcohol (a bit of hot water works to burn off the alcohol), but I would never dream of going to buy a bottle and make my own. I've been sober 18 years and I can see myself taking a drink while preparing the mixture.

Thanks for letting me get that out.

"Perhaps others can make what you want and send it to you....including me after I master my first one :)"

Now you're talking Toni!! Thanks. We can barter for raw food treats. I'm really good at raw food preparation (trying to make a living at it). Just let me know when you start brewing or whatever the proper term is!

Thanks for thinking of me - Shari

HI Shari

Why don't you trade on Sundays? With your raw food maybe?

You could even send people the dried herb and they could make the tinc

for you. I wish I could help but I live in New Zealand!

This is true Toni.Toni <tone102@...> wrote:

With this mention of tinctures and alcohol, I have come across a bunch of websites that state that the tincture drops can be put into hot water or tea and thus, the alcohol would evaporate. I am no scientist so I cannot attest to that but I have read it on many different sites and not from just one.

And yes, Shari :) you mention that in your last post about the hot water. Perhaps others can make what you want and send it to you....including me after I master my first one :)

Shari,

It is good though that you know the problem and face it, many don't... they know it but will not face it... If you're wanting tinctures I think there are alot of us here that can help you out. Make yourself a list of what you want and post it Sunday.. And put on there whether you want to trade or buy or whatever... if trade list what you have to trade.

PS any time you want to get it off your chest, feel free.. it's not good to keep it inside.

Some people believe that way, some don't. Many that

haven't had a drink or even a craving for years would

consider themselves " ex " . And have every right to do

so, just as some say that they are " recovering " .

I'm a little over 10 or 11, and I say " X " as well.

Some have different paths than yours, with just as

successful results. I for one am one of those.
