Guest guest
I am a recovered alcohollic. The bib book says that we should be able to return to normal lives. That's recovery. I had found that too many meetings just talked ragtime and few talked about recovery. I found a different way to deal with it and I have been dry and sober for over 17 years AND I have not had a desire for a drink since I came out of treatment. mary Shari Viger <shavig@...> wrote: ex, huh? Sometimes I get feelings of being the only one, that's why I still go to meetings - to keep my sanity! Shari For the Lord God helps Me; therefore have I not been ashamed or confounded. Guest guest
But we're not speaking of pickles, which are dead, non re-creating things. We are talking about human beings that have the ability to grow, to change, to be healthy if they choose to be, created in a Divine image. Guest guest
Thank you, . I wasn't going to say anything, but you validated my point (even if I had only made it in my head<G>). A belief is just a thought you keep thinking. Change your thoughts, change your beliefs, and you change your reality. Guest guest
Hi Everyone..... I think this is insightful about ex alcoholics...I am a friend of Bill Ws or often reffered a Member of Alcoholics Anonymous..I have almost 13 yrs sober and clean time....We are never an ex alcoholic we have found a design of living through spirtual tools and meetings and of course the steps to helps not drink and live one day at a time from alcohol..There are yets and if we pick up a drink those yets become nows....We are never recovered we are simply living on lifes terms.... and free from alcohol we always might one day circum to alcohol and once again become a sober alcoholic....or a alcoholic not in recovery but there is no ex alcoholics:) Blessings and Love
Guest guest
A good example is my past with migraines and liver problems. I could say that I will always suffer from them, and never be an " ex " sufferer, but that kind of mentality leads to prolonged sickness. It was when I took control (and gave up control to the Big Guy Upstairs)that I started seeing healing taking place. Now, I am not pushing one spiritual path over another on anyone, please don't get me wrong. I am simply saying that, as you said Sharyn, change our thinking, and we WILL see change in our lives. This is a VITAL aspect of overall health. Again, these are just my opinions, and I am in no way trying to convince anyone that their path is the wrong one and only mine is right. That is destructive. We all have to make our own decisions, and grow at our own pace. I believe that is one of the purposes of this very list. To be there for each other, no matter the path, encourage each other to grow, and to nurture that growth in a loving, caring, compassionate environment. Boy, when I get started, there ain't no stopping me! Peace, love, laughter --- Sharyn Cerniglia <sharyn.cerniglia@...> wrote: > Thank you, . Guest guest
I would like to think that we can all be tolerant of each others belief systems. I believe what I believe and you all believe what you believe. And we can all learn from each others beliefs. What I would like to know is how these far eastern people (I think it is far east) can train their minds so that they can walk on hot coals without getting hurt and without feeling pain. Not that I want to walk on hot coals, but I would like to be able to rise above the physical pain in my body. mary <deuteronomy2929@...> wrote: Now, I am not pushing one spiritual path over anotheron anyone, please don't get me wrong. Guest guest
Right on . My best friend is like that. For me I just keep going to meetings until I find one that focuses on recovery AND I have a super sponsor who I read the BB with once a week and work the steps. Just finished an amazing 9th step just in time for my 18th birthday. I keep going to meetings because I can turn into the same b*$(# & % I was when drinking! I don't need alcohol for the behaviors to rear their ugly heads. Besides I have a lot of friends there and I like them. Shari
Guest guest
Mind over matter... My DH can do this.. He worked with a dislocated shoulder for almost a year... puts the pain out of his mind... amazing... This fall he did the same with his knee... and healed it (I think)... they wanted to do surgery before he "blew it out" but he used a brace and dealt with the pain and has no problems now... .. Headaches are the same way.. he does some sort of concentration (he says mind over matter)... I sure can't do it...
