Guest guest
Hey , My internist asked me to get the iron and take an additional 325 mg per day. I got it from my pharmacist and had to ask for it. It is called Hemocyte. I am supposed to recheck my blood count in 6 weeks. I know it was helping because I was not having those sinking dragged out spells. I am a nurse and know that our docs order larger amounts than I am taking if your iron is very low. I had anemia pre op from those monthly episodes anyway. Glenda > Hey, > Yes my PCP said to get some iron pills. I just was not sure because of the > surgery. I am worried though because my doctor did not want to do a follow up in a month or so. OMG!!! I would hate to fire her because she is also my internist. Guest guest
I always seem to have low iron levels on blood tests. What can I do to raise my iron levels without taking an iron supplement? Try the total nutrition formula in the files - it will improve all your values on your blood test. My friend has terminal cancer and uses it - she missed one chemo treatment due to low blood values and that was cause she missed taking the TN! Guest guest
, Yes, that has happened to me - my iron levels are now consistently extremely low, and I have been seeing a hematologist for severe anemia. My Dr. thinks that the Plaquenil did it, but after being off that for a year now, the levels just won't come back up but a tiny bit. I've had to have two IV transfusions of an iron replacement drug (Feraheme), hoping to pump it up some. Don't know results yet, takes about 4-6 weeks. They told me if it dropped any lower, I'd have to have blood transfusions. The theory is either Plaquenil or that the anemia is caused by the RA itself, but no one has suggested the NSAID's did it. It just adds to the extreme fatigue I'm dealing with - from RA, anemia, & methotrexate. Marsha
