Guest guest
Hi Gudny, Whipped cream and ice cream made from cow's milk are avoids, even though butter is neutra. I can't explain why, maybe someone else can. Regards, Sharon, Ontario, Canada

Guest guest
Welcome Gudny, It's good to have people from all over the world. Sari in Israel Whipped cream Hi All, I am new to the list and to the diet, and I have a question - Butter which is made from cowmilk is listed as neutral, what then about whipped cream, and homemade icecream?? Best wishes Gudny in Norway You are receiving this email because you elected to subscribe to the mailing list.
Guest guest
Whipped cream and homemade ice cream are both no nos for us O's unless you can find dairy free varieties. Tabitha Dr. D says sometimes the presentation of a particular food makes it an avoid when in other forms the same food would be ok (like we can have apples but not apple juice)
Guest guest
deb ,sorry i have not replied sooner i did not check my e-mail for a few days the original recipe was founded in the toiletries library donated by someone named china and it is called whipped creme i have made changes to it because i want it to be thicker and i subbed aloe for most of the water so here is my version like i said the original is called whipped creme in the toiletries library china is the author. take 4oz water 1 oz emulsifying wax 1 oz stearic acid & 1 oz citric acid combined in a pyrex liquid measuring cup put in the microwave (or a double boiler) for 5 minutes on 75% power. stir making sure completely dissolved . allow to cool for 5 min. add 10 oz aloe (i use walmart fruit of earth brand comes in a gallon for 8$) using a stick blender mix for 5 min. add 4 oz avocado oil (or whatever you like) 1 oz shea butter (or 1/2 oz cocoa butter or mango butter) & 1/4 oz jojoba . blend for and additional 5 minutes allow to cool for 5 blend untill cooled then add 1 Tblsp Germaben ll , color, and fragrance / essential oil blend further 3 min untill uniform . allow to cool in sterilized jars of your choice this makes approximately 24 oz of thick but non-greasy creme . avocado oil absorbs easily into my dry skin and everyone who has tried this loves it i have also omitted the oil for a lighter almost lotion like creme but not at all runny. of course you can use water i did the first time and it comes out nice. it is my preference to use aloe where i can to replace water in cremes for a more absorbent effect aloe seems to allow my cremes and lotions to better penetrate the skin leaving a sheen without the greasy look. it may be in my head but i hope it works as wonderfully for you. tamika
Guest guest
Ha-ha-ha I am still picturing some idiot stirring whipping cream. You think the name alone would be enough of a hint about what to do with it. Amy Waters Whipped Cream Today someone on one of the big Atkins lists, a newcomer, asked if it was true you could make a low carb " substitute " for Cool Whip with whipping cream!!!!!!!!! And how to do it, as there were no instructions on the carton and he or she tried stirring it and it just stayed liquid. I feel old saying this, but what has HAPPENED on this earth, that someone thinks COOL WHIP is the food and real whipped cream is the substitute for it? Guest guest
Same way I mentioned LARD to a guy at organic food market and he looked at me strangely. Then I say don't you know what lard is. He goes no. I said rendered pig fat. It's a very good fat to cook with. Screws up his face and goes. Oh I don't think I like that idea (he happened to be the second weird vegetarian I happened to cross paths with in same day) Which leads me to the second person (a girl who I thought was nice) She goes how often do you go here this is my 1st time. I say usually every week but I only visit 3 stalls. Pat for his cream and butter. I get a few veg from that stall there and occasionally when I can afford I visit the duck man over there. She gives me a confused look of duck? What you mean duck then she must seen my " what the hell face appear " and then she says I no longer like you voice. Oh you mean meat. NO honey I meant a duck carved out of a flippin carrot. _____ From: Christie [mailto:christiekeith@...] Sent: Saturday, 21 February 2004 8:11 AM Subject: Whipped Cream Today someone on one of the big Atkins lists, a newcomer, asked if it was true you could make a low carb " substitute " for Cool Whip with whipping cream!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
I think it has to be cold first. And not too fresh. Guest guest
Almond Or Cashew "Whipped Cream" Recipe 1 cup almonds or cashews¾ cup water1 Tablespoon maple syrup (optional)½ teaspoon vanilla (optional) If you get excited by yummy dairy-free vegetarian recipes, you're gonna love this one. For the smoothest consistency, use cashews or peeled almonds. Because of their alkaline nature, almonds help keep your blood at a neutral Ph. And if you buy them raw, they'll germinate when you soak them. Note for raw friends: Cashews are heated after being picked, even those labeled "raw". Soak 1 cup of almonds or cashews in 2 cups of water. If you're in a very warm climate, soak them in your refrigerator. After 8-12 hours, discard the soaking water and rinse the nuts. In a blender, place the nuts and enough fresh water to allow the blender to operate. Blend, gradually adding enough water to achieve a smooth consistency. Yields 1 ½ - 1 ¾ cups. Suzi What is a weed?
