Re: Herpes Virus - Flagyl / L-lysine

I contracted Genital Herpes in 1976 through sexual contact.

I was dealing with painful open genital sores monthly for 5 days or more.

I went to the Health Dept doc, and he gave me Flagyl [Metronidazole] oral.

Flagyl got rid of most 'open sore' outbreaks immediately, but did leave me to deal with the Shingle outbreaks, which I still have to this day occasionally.

I have not had 'open sores' since 1977.

What I call Shingles is patches of skin that burn, or sting, but there is no redness or other visible indications.

My Mother had Shingles, so it may be genetic, or she may have had Herpes virus also.

She did have mouth sores. This is a common problem with most people.

There is Genital and Oral Herpes types.

There is Liver Disease warnings with this medication.

There is arguements about the usefulness of Flagyl in treating Herpes.

I can only tell you my experiance.

I agree with SuziQ.....'L-lysine' is useful for Herpes and/or Shingles.

I take it when I have an outbreak.

L-lysine can help a lot with herpes virus--coldsores--etc. Take plenty during outbreaks. Colloidal Silver applied externally several times a day will stop the spread of shingles in a day or so and they will heal quickly. Colloidal Silver is great for many things. If you are afraid to take it internally---definitely do not be afraid to use externally on sores, cuts, rashes, as eyedrops or as an antiseptic around the house. If you buy a machine to make it, it will be the cheapest disinfectant available and is not toxic like many store bought cleaners are. A litter of adopted kitties have herpes and I drop a tablet or two of L-lysine in their water to keep their herpes related eye infections at bay. I clean their eyes and ears wih colloidal siver.

Let's see - think it was back in about 1975 or so, I had this funny little rash on the inside of my left thigh!! I go to see the Dr. that was covering for mine at the time and he made me feel like I was too dirty to deal with almost. Told me that I had Herpes.Well, isn't it weird that I have those little blister patches to this day, usually when I'm stressing and not once have I ever had them genitally...inside my left leg, on my right butt; but, not in the genitals.Now beginning about last October, I started to experience a really horrible itch genitally. It about drove me crazy!!! My Dr. prescribed some kind of ointment but it hardly touch it. Then, all of a sudden it was gone!! Finally figured out that it was linked to the medication they had me on

to control the Uric Acid. Soon as I stopped taking it - every thing cleared up. Now, I know I'm a little slow sometimes; but, I never put that together until it stopped!!!!Gloria

They say that most people have some sort of Herpes virus.

Upper [Oral] Herpes has been around for decades, or longer.

Genital Herpes is pretty common too, becomming well known during the 'free love' era.

Ladies usually get the sores up inside where they cannot feel them.

This is why its dangerous to a pregnant mother and her newborn child.

Passing through the birth canal during a flare up.

I have heard stroies of mutations in the eyes, nasally, ears, scalp, and even affecting the brain in newborns.

I havent ever really researched it too much though, so I dont know how much of this is true.

Men get sores on the exterior where it is very painful, and easily discovered.

Doctors should take care when treating Herpes, just as with any contagious disease.

The doctor that diagnosed me in 1976, wouldnt even touch me, with or without gloves on.

I too felt dirty, but it was just common sence.

Dont touch.

My sores origionated on my Penis, but since the soreness has moved to my inner thighs.

Like I said, the sores have vanished, but the Shingles? persist.

Your right Gloria, 'stress' causes breakouts more than any other thing.

I have discovered this in myself over the years.

'Stress' agrivates a lot of health problems it seems.

I was told long ago that the Herpes virus 'sleeps' in the nerve cells, thus a medicine is almost impossible to creat without affecting the brain too.

This is why stress is a factor, and why there is no cure.

But there are alternatives like animo acids / L-lysine, and good diet for relief.

This is also why I watch viral research closely.

It is very interesting to me what they are discovering about all kinds of viruses.
