Thanks for all the ghee info. Seems easier for me to buy it online and try it though I know that the self accomplishment and love and all that in making it yourself would not be there. But if it takes long, I know I will forget it

Toni, I used to buy ghee and that's fine. I just started making my own recently. Buy a jar and see how you like it. It might be the best way to get started.

Making ghee takes less than a half hour. I usually don't leave it on the stove unattended for long as I don't want it to burn. It's easy to make but you *do* have to keep an eye on it.

I love to cook but it is only worthwhile when you have someone to cook for. Obviously :)

And could that "someone to cook for" be YOU? I cook for myself all the time. I make 3-4 course gourmet meals just for your's truly. Every week I get out my cookbooks and make something new. I cook myself Indian, Middle Eastern, Japanese etc. dinners. I put flowers out and sit down and really enjoy my creations. For lunch at work I take my homemade sushi, or avocado, hummus and veggie sandwiches, along with huge salads with feta cheese, mixed organic greens and veggies (with my own dressing). I love to eat well!!

The ghee sounds reasonable to me. The ghee I make with raw butter tastes a little different than the one I bought, but they are all good!!

Beautiful day here! I just watered the dry-as-a-bone plants and went to the store. Not many people out yet at 8 AM on a holiday, which was nice.

I did see an online source for the Ghee for $5.95 I believe plus shipping. I do not know how much is too much regarding price. Seemed reasonable to me.

Morning Gloria,

Hope this morning finds you well. Can I just use a stick to see how it would come out? I thought it took hours. A half hour is nothing. Now my lasagne used to take long. Not hard just the whole prep kind of thing. Ant informed me after 19 years that he did not like it (lasagne in general not mine). I am saying that because thinking about it I am still shocked. Like when was he going to tell me ? lol I love to cook but it is only worthwhile when you have someone to cook for. Obviously :)

I'll let you know what I will decide. This kind of thing is good as it takes my mind off of some pretty heavy pressing matters.

Thanks again Gloria

Have a great day!

Morning Gloria,

Beautiful and cool day here today. My son had his air on full blast. I had to check for a pulse! lol I do not have air anywhere else in the house. I am used to it except when my hormones act up and I get all hot and bothered...haha

I do not cook for myself. I just won't go for the trouble and there is not alot of things I like anymore that is cooked. I was having an occassional baked potato but I am finding they make me congested and give me indigestion. But I do love sweet potatoes which I load hot peppers on :)

I have cookbooks here and can honestly say in my entire life I have never followed a recipe. I always wing it. Sadly with Ant, dinner is a slab of meat thrown in a pan though I do use a lot of garlic and spices and stouffers mac and cheese or something. Every now and then I try to make something to hide veggies in but the inspector catches on. All we can do is try. I am not a fruit person and trying to make me eat alot of it would be fruitless...lol

Have a great day Gloria

If I can overcome my anxiety I might take myself to the fireworks tonight. I doubt it but it is a thought

Hey Gloria,

Hope you had a great day. I am as healthy as I am at the moment. I am one tough cookie and striving for better! Lots of changes needed but will do them as I can. I love greens so throwing them in a bowl is a good thing:) I have never eaten beans so I just do not bother unless that includes green beans which I love raw. Grains?? What would that include? I do have to watch with bread. I was never a bread eater and now all of a sudden I crave it. I should try a recipe and make one of my own that is healthier then what is out there. I have a very old juicer a Hamilton Beach and it just wastes so much so I no longer bother but I do so love veggie juice. If I had a decent one, I would not be leaving it alone :)

I will get some Ghee soon and let you know how I like it I am sure :) I might even try making some myself though I would hate to waste that .

Hope you had a great day and you have a wonderful tomorrow

Toni

I didn't realize I could make ghee either until I couldn't find it at my

local store. So I got a recipe for making it on the stovetop which seemed a

little labor intensive. Then I found a recipe for baked ghee where you just

put the butter right in an open casserole dish in the oven and let it bake

at 300 degrees for an hour or so and then skim off the crust and strain the

rest-- really easy, which is what I like best. :-)
