Guest guest
Don,Can't answer for the health benefits, but...Grass has never been my thing, just made me laugh, eat and sleep. My drug of choice, well I wanted to pack 3 days into 24 hours, you know?Anyway, when I was about 2 months into treatment a co-worker and friend could see I was struggling. At the time I was working in a labor intensive job, and he could see the impact. He partied with a lady that renders pot down to THC oil and then bakes with it. The next time there was some available, he grabbed a dozen brownies and brought them to me.I tried a full brownie the first time, and melted my ass into the couch 30 minutes later. After that I'd do 1/2 a brownie about an hour before going to bed, and it didn't incapacitate me but sure took the edge off, and made getting to sleep much easier.Through tx I just had to tell him I was running low and within a few days he'd show up with brownies, cupcakes, even lemon bars...had to tell my kids the pastries in the freezer had natural medicine in them, and would make them VERY SICK if they dipped into them...must have been convincing, they left my goodies alone.I do advocate legalization even though it's not something I'd personally use...the damage of the legal poisons alcohol and cigarettes probably wouldn't hold a candle to grass.Anyway, hope you enjoyed the story!SteveLife is much more fun when thought of as a scavenger hunt as opposed to a surprise party. Jimmy Buffett [ ] POT and its health effects Hi I read an article about the effects of Pot on the liver, if this is what your refering to. The number of cannabinoid receptors I havent checked out yet. So much to research, so little time and energy. Anyways, in this article it said that Pot slows the healing effects of HCV treatment. I would guess that Pot is NOT a wise move during HCV TX, even though it may relieve some of the sides. Ive only seen that one article about this topic. I can find it if your interested. I have seen various studies about the effects of Pot on the human system, and try to locate as much info on this topic as I can. Most are well known like Pot contributing to depression and other mental disorders. Other studies show that Pot contributes to COPD and other lung issues, I would presume as an irritant. I have discussed Pot and my heart, with my doctor. He doesnt seem to think it is very healthy, but has provided me no clinical proof that it does more than very minor damage, and that mostly related to lack of oxygen. As far as Pot being a benefit to the liver, I have my doubts, but am open to the possibility. I personally think the 'staving off liver disease' is wishful thinking by those who like Pot. Please bear in mind that I am a lifelong hippy Pot smoker/grower, but quit 2 years ago. [Not the hippy part, just the Pot part. lol] I do advocate MMJ use, and decrimalization, but with regulation, and awareness. My personal opinion is that ANYTHING one inhales, consumes, or that is absorbed by the skin, eventually ends up being processed by the liver. Unnecessary things should be avoided to lighten the livers load. When I was diagnosed with HCV, I stopped many things cold, like Pot, sugar, salt, red/organ/shellfish meats, etc. Im still working on tobacco use. grrrrrr. Its a hard one. I began vitamins and sups, more fresh fruits/veggies, and more water. I doubt that I will ever go back to using Pot, except maybe on my deathbed, unless I see clinical proof that it has a benefit for me. And then I would really prefer opiates. , there is a lot of mis-information out there. Be careful what you buy into, unless you have PROOF. If Pot helps stave off liver disease, I would like to know about it. love don in ks I read that the liver has a very large number of cannabinoid receptors, and is only second to the brain in that regard. Also that taking advantage of these receptors helps to stave off liver damage. What say you?
