Does anyone have any

secrets, tips, raw recipes etc that might serve to curb my fairly

intense cravings for sugary bad foods?

I have been off sugar since March now. No sugar at all (and I am an addict!). It was really hard the first 3 weeks but now it's subsided considerably. When I really craved something sweet ( I ate nothing remotely sweet for a couple weeks so I could go through withdrawl), I would just have a glass of apple juice. Every now and then I make a cooked dessert sweetened with applesauce. Yesterday morning I made an Ayurvedic drink with raisins and dried apricots (soaked overnight) and some raw yogurt and a little soymilk all whipped up in the blender. It was so sweet it just about knocked my socks off. Not used to that these days. ;-). But I was amazed.... I still didn't get the highs and lows and all the crap that I used to get when I ate sugar. In fact I felt pretty darn good all day!

Hello Friends,I'm really trying to "get back on the bandwagon" and am starting a juice cleanse tonight/tomorrow morning. (citrus and water). But my MAIN problem that I find, while trying to eat healthier, is that i have issues when it comes to sweet cravings. Does anyone have any secrets, tips, raw recipes etc that might serve to curb my fairly intense cravings for sugary bad foods?Best, sarah anne

Gloria,

I thought I read chrominum (sp?) helps curb sugar cravings. Raw sweet suggestions below for kids.

For kids:

sweet treats: mixing soaked raisins with carrots, with lemon juice, adding in some nuts too....

--

blending dates and raisins...making them into ball...rolling them into flaked coconut.

--

frozen bananas, if available with frozen/fresh berries...sprinkler seeds/nuts on top or even raw carob powder...

=

grated carrots/lemon juice/soaked raisins. "Mix" together and serve cold or room temperature. May want to let sit for flavors to blend.

Apple juice is very concentrated. May want to dilute with water. Oh, if you have juicer apple juice and fresh lemon make fabulous lemonade.

Get kids involved...make them part of their creations.
