Ran across this and someone emailed me last week asking me about yerba mate..

What is Yerba Maté, anyway?

Sold as a coffee alternative, yerba maté is made from the leaves of a tree commonly found in the South American rain forest. Argentine lore has it that drinking copious amounts produces euphoria. But even one cup offers clear benefits, Yerba maté contains 24 vitamins and minerals and 12 antioxidants; its caffeine level is similar to that of coffee—without the stomach-churning acidity. And the taste? Slightly bitter, with woody notes. If that sounds unappetizing, you could try a flavored variety like chai or chocolate.

What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered.

Or sweetened with stevia it is very good. I buy it in 5# bags! Anyone want a sample, email me with your snail mail address, off list, and I'll send you enough for a cup. I am not drinking as much of it as I did previously. I am seeing the end of my tea drinking days coming up quicker than I thought.

Great! There are any people who recommend the

combination of Pau D'Arco with yerba mate, so I'll

combine the two, throwing some cloves in with the

other spices and herbs. I had sort of forgotten about

the Pau D'Arco, so it will be good to start using it

again.

Thanks!

I would like to add that people who suffer from any liver problem must be

very careful in drinking this herb, or even better to avoid it completely.
