Guest guest
Gayle, In your post about the run around at Denver you mentioned Dr. Jim Trotter. My husband had him as a Dr at Duke when he had his transplant. We sure miss him, how we get the run around. Jim's Transplant was 2 1/2 years ago and I also have Autoimmune Live Disease. For 7 years first it was PBC then AIH or both. My last biopsy 3 weeks ago they now feel it is only PBC. Where is Trotter when you need him? Tell him the " Dynamic Duo " at Duke are doing fine. Guest guest
Marcia, The world is really getting smaller every day. I will give him the message. I really like Dr. Trotter more than all of them. I like how he is honest and real and he tells me the straight answers where the rest dance around issues. Even Trotter admitted that as well. How is your husband now? Does he have side effects on his meds? Does he feel good? Been a little over a year for me. And I have tons of medical problems still to deal with so most of the time I feel sick. Mainly my run around comes from Denver General. I wish I could change over to University totally but I live in Denver. University serves Jefferson County. I also find it interesting how many people are affected in some way with liver problems especially within the same family when you are husband and wife. What are the odds? Or maybe the eyes are beginning to open. gayle/trans.6-99 galye@... ^0^ `

Guest guest
Joanne, Another rollcall comes to mind. in Canada. the newly wed. Is Doris still with us? Help me out who else? When one person writes more than others than no participation will occur. Not healthy for the rest of the people. Having more contribute gives us that diversity of sharing. Another person can't remember his name wrote from Italy or was it Ireland. We all have input. We need to move on contact Geri privately. We are all important. gayle/trans.6-99 galye@... ^0^ `

Guest guest
hi Genny, I am not close to Pearl River. I believe that's in south Louisiana and I'm in North Louisiana. Tell Jodi I'm thinking of her. My mother has been my inspiration during all of my ordeal. She has many health problems herself, but only thinks of others. Take care,

Guest guest
Hi Bobbi I make just such a toner & would recomend you add aloe to increase moisture content, this will also aide healing. should you want to add an oil consider using a solubiliser. I personally like to leave my blend to synergise for 5 -7 days prior to use - this brings the mix together. Seval
Guest guest
From: Jan Jenson <vizual@...> Ambrotose is from Mannatech. I wouldn't touch a Mannatech product with a 50 foot pole. The product may be great, but their sales tactics are hardcore and VERY pushy and relentless. I've been using Mannatech products since 1997 and have more than a dozen friends who are still here after being given " death sentences " by their doctor... WOAH! Drs. are NOT GOD!! And Ambrotose has saved my cat's life 3times! It's GOOD for people, horses, cats, dogs, birds, fish, lizards, plants! You can order wholesale using my number no obligation. NO HASSLE. I get nothing in return other than the satisfaction that I've helped someone. Please contact me privately - off this list. Guest guest
thank you for your words of encouragement! It helped tremendously! I had my lumbar myelogram Wednesday and it was a nightmare! First they didn't have my insurance confirmed even though we had pre-registered so my daughter and I had to wait 2 hours before I could even be prepped, ever sat in a very small space with a 19 year old?! They get antsy! LOL!! She was good overall and we had a chance to talk about how cold the room was,how high gas prices were, the general state of the world and "What the heck was taking so long!!!!" I had brought my laptop so she could watch some DVDs,but bless her heart it was uncomfortable in that chair, she kept looking wistfully at my bed and wondered if they would take it with me! They did much to her chagrin! They did give me Valium( she looked wistfully at that as well)and an injection of Demerol. The doctor was unable to get the needle through my spine due to the fusion, she finally had to try further up and hit a nerve, Oh My GOD! My leg was in the sulfurous pits of HELL!!!! I just about came up off that table,so she stopped then tried injecting a small amount of dye, yep I was in hell! My leg felt as though I had been plugged into a 220 wall socket. She gave up and called in another doctor who gave me a massive injection of Demerol and went through my neck to inject the dye. I made it out of there more committed to avoiding hell than ever before! LOL!! Now 2 days later I am having electric pain in my right leg and cannot even stand a sheet touching the skin of my calf! Has this happened to anyone else or am I just extra lucky?! I called Dr.Blacklock and he didn't have the results yet but his nurse found a preliminary report on the computer, she says there is a blockage and impingement of the thecal sac as well as the nerve root sleeve being inflamed. Unofficially I will be having an anterior/posterior lumbar fusion. At this point they could saw my leg off and I would be happy!! LOL!! I feel better mentally at this moment but will be scared as it sinks in. My mother keeps trying to cheer me up but I told her not to bother, just let me have my pity party and then I will be okay. If anyone else would like to come to my pity party please bring the chocolate cake and balloons, I will supply the alcohol! I am so glad I have y'all as a support system,it means the world to me! Guest guest
Dear All, I don't know if I've posted this here before or not, but if you have to travel out of state for medical treatment of any kind, Angel Flight will fly you at no cost to you. You must be medically cleared to fly & you MUST be able to get into a single engine plane as this is what they generally fly you in. Were it not for this wonderful missionary service, I would not be walking today. They flew me to & from my consutations, surgery, & follow up appts. If you are considering donating to a charitable organization for Katrina or otherwise, please consider these folks. You may have seen them on the news recently flying displaced victims. They are truly amazing people. Here is their website if any of you need help or wish to donate. Angel Flight Home page
Guest guest
In a message dated 9/15/05 5:56:12 PM Eastern Daylight Time, writes: By MS, do you mean morphine sulfate? And what did they switch you to after that? Why do you think the analgesia diminished over time as it did? Is it simply that tolerance is inevitable and universal? (But if so, why is it that patients with serious pain, as far as I know, do not predictably develop tolerance to oral narcotics or the fentanyl patch?) Dear , please forgive the tardiness of my reply. I'm recuperating from surgery to remove adhesions (from that darn pump) and also from a torture session on Friday. I was to have the last in a series of facet blocks for which I had to lie belly -down (yep right on the incision & staples done only on Monday) with NO sedation other than Valium. After 9 years of narcotic pain mgt. I am, needless to say, rather tolerant. The doc said either do it this way or cancel it. I couldn't cancel as the authorization ran out that day (which he knew already). And all this after he'd PROMISED me that he would give me whatever he had to keep me comfortable on Monday when I addressed this problem. DO NOT COME TO WV FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT!!!!! As for MS, yes that is morphine sulfate. The next opiate they tried in my pump was fentanyl, which did absolutely nothing at all. (I've run across one or two others who had this problem with fentanyl). The next opiate they tried was dilaudid. It did help better than the fentanyl, but nothing they tried worked as well as the whole shebang did when they first put it in. Concerning narcotic tolerance. I am not sure where you got your information about this, but in both my experience as a nurse (before I got hurt) and as a pain mgt patient, I can tell you that MOST people who use narcotics/opiates for long periods DO develop tolerance, which is NOT the same thing as addiction. Also, according to the latest studies I've seen/heard about, when you are started on a new opiate/narc, the "high/buzz/sleepy" side effects (if you get them at all) are generally gone after about 6 weeks. Thus, the primary reason most docs don't put any kind of stipulation on your driver's license (or so I am told). Hope this helps.
