Guest guest
Duncan, Is colostrum similar to whey in that lactose intolerant people can handle it? Or is it something in your experience that should be avoided? Thanks, Duncan Crow <duncancrow@...> wrote: Sunny, whey and colostrum have almost entirely different properties so you can't compare them directly. Guest guest
Duncan, Thanks. Is there a colostrum you'd recommend? Can I take it with the whey and inulin or will it affect the whey? Thanks again, Duncan Crow <duncancrow@...> wrote: , lactose intolerance is common in adults but it is stopped with inulin, which is a core part of our therapy for bowel ecology, so a moot question. Guest guest
Hi Leena, I say both because, whey, for the reasons that Duncan explained yesterday ie, glutathione precursors etc, but I also say colostrum, a good quality one (if you can tolerate dairy), as it has a large amount of immunoglobulins which are imperative for immune health of the gut. 70 % of the immune system is in the gut and while the diet and whey will heal the gut, it is really important to balance the immune system and build it too for future protection. Colostrum is also much higher in lactoferrin which inhibits the growth and attachment of microbes, viruses and fungi in the gut - we all need this, and it contains higher levels of lactoperoxidases which are able to kill bacterial microbes etc, it is useful in upper gi infections and those of the mouth. It is also able to break down some molecules released by pathogens that cause us harm too. People who tend to get recurrent gut infections/candida just from slip ups have a poor biofilm in the gut, poor gut immunity & low sIgA. Colostrum & its components are great for increasing these, along with glutamine, essential fats, heaps of water, etc. It takes a minimum of 12 weeks to increase sIgA in these people. Hope some of that helps, but I think it is a good idea to research the facts etc to make an informed choice. Guest guest
Hi Leena, Thanks for your this information on colostrum. Is there a brand that you have used with success? Have you or anyone on the list ever used xmogen's IgG2000. It is supposed to be a non-dairy powder that has imunogloulins (sp) to help the gut and immune system. Guest guest
Hi , I am in Australia so I haven't heard of the product that you mentioned. I have used 2 Practitioner brands over here, Metagenics Ultra Probioplex or Transferon, or Bioceuticals GastroCare Excel, all 3 of these products are great. Guest guest
No, sorry :-). Good luck finding the product. Any Naturopath will stock it. The health food stores will have it but are not supposed to sell without sighting a script from a naturopath or doctor etc for it. Guest guest
Hi I have used colostrum in the past without any noticeable benefits - maybe I was using a duff brand . What brands of colostrum have people used that they find helpful? Re: Whey VS Colostrum Could you pls. shed some light on why both so that I can commit to the program.....
