Soothing Natural Skin Salve This is my kids' favorite recipe! It's been a godsend for diaper rash, helps sooth dry itching skin, keeps scabbed skin supple to mimimize scarring, and even works as a lip gloss. The salve has a clean floral fragrance and absorbs into skin quickly. The instructions as written will yield a solid, yet easily melted salve. If you use a bit less beeswax, you will have a more buttery consistency. Adding more beeswax will yield a harder product.

Yield

Approximately 2 ounces

Time

15 minutes to make; allow an hour to cool/solidify

Tools

double boiler or bowl over boiling water (careful!) measuring cups spoon clean 2 ounce container with lid droppers or pipettes for essential oils

Ingredients

2 Tbsp. coconut oil 1 Tbsp. cocoa butter 1 Tbsp. beeswax 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil (I like canola or olive oil) 10 to 15 drops lavender essential oil 20 drops jojoba essential oil

Directions

Melt the coconut oil, cocoa butter, beeswax, and vegetable oil in a double boiler. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Add the lavender and jojoba oil.

Stir to mix thoroughly.

Pour the salve into the clean container.

Cool with the lid resting on the container, but slightly ajar to allow moisture to escape.

Seal the container, label it, and enjoy!
