Guest guest
Thanks for this article link. I got rid of parasites and yeast overgrowth but I think I still have leaky gut. I still have chemical sensitivities and many food intolerances. I got very sick when taking probiotics. The probiotics did have acidophilus in them. I still don't know how to get rid of the leaky gut though. Guest guest
Are you taking digestive enzymes? I would try a broad-spectrum enzyme. My mom has a pretty bad leaky gut from years of indigestion (I think her body quick making digestive enzymes), long-term antibiotic use, and other things. She takes 2 enzymes with first bite of her every meal, and things are improving gradually. There are stronger enzymes out there that you can try, but always start at a lower dose like 1/4 of the recommended dose. Big companies send out free samples: Enzymetica, Houston Enzymes, etc. More info: http://www.enzymestuff.com/conditionleakygut.htm On Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 7:47 AM, weighttrainer <cbumgarner@...>wrote: > Thanks for this article link. Guest guest
I used to take Digest Gold with every meal then I quit because it had a little lactobacillus in it and was having major problems with probiotics. I just recently tried some enzymes for about 2 weeks and did not notice any improvements at all. Enzymedica is supposed to be changing their Digest Gold to not have the lactobacillus early 2009. Guest guest
Hi, Christie, Did you try taking more enzymes? Which brand did you try? My mom has to take 2 (sorry I can't remember the brand right now). How about Betaine HCl? I just read that to heal the gut, following is helpful: omega 3, vitamin D, glutamine, magnesium, zinc. I'm currently taking something called GI Revive (my nutritionist recommended it) .. http://www.rockwellnutrition.com/GI-Revive-by-Designs-For-Health-DFH_p_0-1006.ht\ ml The link is just for looking at the ingredients. I buy it from my nutritionist. I dissolve 1 tsp of the powder in 4 oz of water and drink it on an empty stomach. It has a pleasant, herby taste. I've only been taking it for 2 days, so I can't tell you if it works, but my stomach and colon feels " better. Guest guest
L-Glutamine is good for leaky gut, I think that's the main treatment from what I've read. I just started it. They say it takes just 5 days to fix the gut lining, which renews itself every 14 hours. I read to take 5-10 mg/day but I don't know how long to take it or what the best dose is. Not sure how long it takes to feel better. Vicky > > > Thanks for this article link. I got rid of parasites and yeast > > overgrowth but I think I still have leaky gut. Guest guest
Probiotics were causing me to have diarrhea. Started slowing then progessed and I lost a lot of weight and even blacked out. Through process of elimination of foods and supplements I figured out it was the probiotics. After stopping them I gained a healthy 15lbs back. I am 36 and had gone down to 90 and had almost no healthy fat on me. Guest guest
L-glutamine is the major amino acid in milk and whey. If one uses whey they don't need supplemental l-glutamine IMO. Guest guest
Except for what is in SomaLife I guess? sol Duncan Crow wrote: > L-glutamine is the major amino acid in milk and whey. Guest guest
Yes Sol, SomaLife takes advantage of l-glutamine's property of being a synergistic trigger for HGH release, rather than using it as a supplemental amino acid. The synergy would not be obtained without taking the pure l-glutamine with those other amino acid triggers. The amount of l-glutamine in SomaLife is only around 3/4 of a gram to do that, while whey contains 5 grams or so l-glutamine per dose. Duncan > > L-glutamine is the major amino acid in milk and whey. Guest guest
Thanks for the explanation. sol Duncan Crow wrote: > Yes Sol, SomaLife takes advantage of l-glutamine's property of being a > synergistic trigger for HGH release, rather than using it as a > supplemental amino acid. Guest guest
Christie - did you start the probiotics slowly? If you start at a high dose it can cause diarrhea and gas. You might've been allergic/sensitive to a certain strain in whatever you were taking. Guest guest
My doctor mentioned that I may be sensitive to certain strains but I tried ones like HMF Intensive by Genestra and then Klaire Labs 25 billion. When I took a Renew Life one it was mainly bifidus and I did not have the problem. Since I finally gained weight back I have not tried more probiotics except something called Lactobacillus Sporogenes which is supposed to resist degradation by stomach acid. I don't know if it is " working " but it doesn't cause diarrhea. Start slowly - not sure what I started with, it was what the doctor recommended. One of the probiotics was 25 billion I believe..
