Guest guest
Pete, I honestly don't know for sure, but I have read that low-dose Cortef, which you are on, is just replacing what your body isn't making, and is not enough to suppress the immune system. Usually steroids such as Cortef are given in much bigger doses for things like autoimmune diseases and inflammation to dampen the immune response. Low-dose Cortef part of the Teitelbaum chronic fatigue syndrom protocol which also includes antifungals. I'm on just 5mg a day of Cortef plus antifungals. Guest guest
I also heard that steroids help spread fungus, but I can't be sure of anything. Thanks. Guest guest
Pete: I don't know if Steroids and Steroid hormones are the same thing but Steroid hormones sure do FEED the Fungus. Guest guest
Vitamin D is a steroid hormone as is Cortef, which is given in low doses to people with low cortisol but not 's. Would going out in the sun increase candida? Why would the steroid hormones feed fungus? In large amounts they suppress the immune system, but I'd like to hear more of what you mean. Thanks. Guest guest
Steroids seriously affect blood sugar levels, which is how they feed candida. Anything that raises your blood sugar level is providing a picnic for candida. I work in a hospital as a technician and frequently test patients on steroids as they have to have their blood sugar closely monitored just like diabetics because of how much it can affect them. Guest guest
Terry, Does that mean we shouldn't take vitamin D nor go out in the sun? Mine is low and I've been supplementing with it and it seems to help, but it is a steroid.
