Can the gas from inulin be differentiated from the gas from candida?

I've been upping the inulin, but also eaten out a few times. I try to be

very careful, but as you know, that is not perfect. Am wondering what is

causing the gas.

Thanks,

Karin

Inulin gives me a LOT of gas. I had to stop taking it.

Karin, no, you have no way of knowing which bacteria yeast or fungus

produced the gas. The gas depends on what has eaten the inulin, or at

least the FOS and sugar in it.

Candida and many other organisms eat the sugar and FOS in inulin and

produce gas; candida also produces alcohol and tartaric acid.

Lactobacilli, one of your main probiotic organisms, produce gas.

The gas usually goes away over a period of weeks as the bifidobacteria

assert control.

Inulin gave me a ton of gas too. I may go back and try it soon, but at the

time, I just couldnt deal with it.

I have been taking a combo apple pectin, psyllium, and collinsonia root

fiber supplement for a few weeks now, so maybe that has helped straighten

things out so the inulin wont be so bad.

Let me know how it goes for you. Like I have been saying lately, some

strains of candida can use inulin and even the report duncan most

usually links to says that inulin might not be the answer when bifido

levels are low and there is a candida overgrowth.
