Guest guest
Hello, I have a 4 yr old son whose recent stool test has shown a yeast overgrowth in his gut. I'd love some advice from this group! From what I've read, I need to start him on probiotics and possibly some anti-fungals? His test showed that he had an adequate amount of bifido but no Lactobacillus at all. But I'm wondering if that is b/c he is just 4 yrs old? Don't infants and young children generally have mostly bifido, or is that just infants? Can you all recommend some supplement brands that I should start him on? A little background, he's been off of gluten, dairy, soy, and egg for a year now. His allergy tests were neg, but his Enterolab reports showed that he was intolerant to all of the above. Before removing the offending foods, he had dark circles under his eyes, was diagnosed as Failure to Thrive, had aggressive ADHD like behavior, and was REALLY itchy. He had bloody scabs all over his behind, knees, and stomach from the intensity of the itchiness. However, recently he's begun to be a little itchy again, not as severe as before, but getting worse each day. He is currently taking Brainchild Nutritionals multi and minerals, cod liver oil, Vit. K, and a Cal/ Mag supplement. Thank you so much, your advice is really appreciated!
Guest guest
Virgin coconut oil, inside and out, does wonders for candida, itchiness, and a host of other symptoms. I buy mine from www.mountainroseherbs.com in bulk for the best price, but you can start off finding it at whole foods. Luv, Debby in San , CA 147 lbs lost! Guest guest
That's true; at 4 his major probiotic should be bifido, up to around 90% of the total population, diet depending. It's not the gluten but the starch that feeds candida. One of our core health components is a " dairy " product, cold-extracted powdered whey, which has components that prevent pathogen adhesion. Here's a page on that: http://tinyurl.com/whey-adhesion Failure to thrive can result from a diet low in glutathione precursors that are given by the whey. This glutathione is the cells' main antioxidant support, it protects mitochondrial energy centers, and it's also used to create energy molecules themselves. Dark circles under the eyes are often a sign of sluggish liver; the liver is the main user of the depleted glutathione and it can't do the detoxification job without it. Itchiness sometimes results from slow liver too, as toxins start to exude through the skin directly from the lymph. You can see then the bad idea it is to lump whey in with the maligned " dairy " ; this is also true for butter. Obviously the boy's diet caused the fluorish of candida but you can correct it and his energy levels too, with our method. The other thing you'll need to know is that inulin directly feeds probiotics in the gut. Duncan > > Hello, > I have a 4 yr old son whose recent stool test has shown a yeast > overgrowth in his gut.
