Guest guest
This brings up a question of mine... how many of you that suffered panic/anxiety disorder found that those particular symptoms went away after explant? I have it so bad that there was a couple years when I was nearly agoraphobic. --- In , " anita kessler " <AnitaK001@m...> wrote: > I can only say that my son and I have both had panic attacks and they can be horrendous as far as the scare factor goes. I haven't had a panic attack since I have been detoxing or the dizziness that accompanies it Of course getting your heart checked would be a good first idea. Guest guest
I had panic attacks terrible with implants! Never had one before implants, but with them it was so bad at times I couldn't even sit & watch tv. It was one of the 1st symptoms to go away after explant. Guest guest
I would have to disagree on the " diagnosis " of " panic attack " . Most likey as the body is ridding itself via detox the circulating toxins are affecting the CNS and causing the " problem " . One would suspect that trying to mitigate the " panic attacks " would in fact create a problem as it's not " mental " and a anti-anziety med will be more problematic than effective. More " assistance " with detox would help, bottled water, organic foods, removal of possible more toxic exposures and if they can tolerate it...hot baths with skin brushing and sweating. More like they are related to the toxic condition. But it's possible as your friend is detoxing that she is still ill and/or being exposed to different triggers and that would cause panic attacks. >Surella
Guest guest
According to my doc, there can be psychiatric symptoms associated with biotoxin illnesses, such as mold. On Dr. Shoemaker's web site is a presentation he gave to the Virginia psychiatric outpatient group, which talks about some of these symptoms. They include panic attacks, anxiety, depression etc. Go to the link and scroll to the bottom of the page. The Virginia presentation is the last one listed. http://www.biotoxin.info/presentations Frosty
Guest guest
i have been having panic attacks. also bouts of depression. at least now i know why. it started about a month before i knew about the mold. its mold related. i swear. it has to be. i think its because we feel so sick we have no control over why. I also have a seizure disorder and have had to had my dosage increased on one of my meds due to increased seizure activity. all of this happeded right before i found out about the mold. now the panic and depression is a bit easier to handle because i know the cause. the seizures are under control thanks to medication. but the allergra - D really puts me on edge. so i have to take something to help me sleep. this is still unreal to me. nne [] Panic attacks Did I read in one of the posts that as someone was detoxing they were having extreme difficulty with anxiety? I need to let a friend know who is also detoxing as to whether the panic attacks are related to detox. Thanks
Guest guest
I don't know but I'd love to find something for the panic attacks. Mine are awful at times like right now. It has been raining all day and now very heavy along with wind. Even though we haven't had any leaks I get extremely anxious about the roof and any place else it could possibly enter. Many days I don't even like to leave the house because I worry so much. We were even planning to go away for just 2 nights for our anninversary but the closer it gets the more anxious I become. I was never like this before I got so sick. I was a traveler and always ready to go. Has anyone had any success with the GABA I'd be happy to hear about it. Sue Dear List, Does anyone have any idea if GABA can affect thyroid levels one way or another? I was doing some research and came across only this one obscure link. Guest guest
GABA has been helpful for anxiety. It can't hurt to give it a try. My doctor recommended taking it twice a day for 6 days a week--skip one day of each week. Another idea which might help somewhat--we turn off the water every time we travel. I feel much better about leaving when I know a pipe can't leak while I'm away. > > > I don't know but I'd love to find something for the panic attacks. Mine are > awful at times like right now. Guest guest
Hi Sue, My daughter and I were helped by large doses of B-1 (thiamin) along with sufficient magnesium. I have a friend who was helped by B-12 but not B-1. Everyone is different. GABA did nothing for any of us, but it has helped others. If you try B-1, be sure to take a good B-complex as well as magnesium because they all work together. There's a book entitled " The Way Up From Down " which has a good table in the back which shows the deficiency symptoms of many vitamins and minerals. It also discusses amino acid therapy. I hope you find some help. Jean **************Need a new ride? Check out the largest site for U.S. used car listings at AOL Autos. Guest guest
Thanks for the GABA info. Problem here is that my 87 yr. old mother will be here. I have begged my bother to come check the pipes, water heater, etc. but he only thinks I'm crazy and need to see a Dr. What do you do about your water heater? Water heaters are my worst nightmare even thought we had a plumber put a deep pan around it with a pipe that leads to the sump pump I still worry about it. Never was like this before and is a terrible way to live. I always loved to travel but now I get anxious just thinking about it. Doesn't make my husband very happy. Guest guest
Thanks for the info & I'll look for the book. I do take B-12. I have a healthy options store near me that does vitamin/mineral screening. Thought that might be helpful. I'm also thinking of talking to my local dr. about an antidepressant. Anyone here taking one that has been helpful? I know there are so many and don't know which would be better than another. Guest guest
Sue, I saw on TV the other day where they installed a shut off (if you have city water, didn't say if you have well) that if there is a leak that it will stop the water from continuing to flow into the tank. It also had a sensor that went into the pan that signeled the component to shut off the water flow into the tank. Not sure where to find one, but you can call an electrial/plumbing company or one of the home improvement stores to see if they carry anything like that. Hope this helps, Sharon C. > > > Thanks for the GABA info. Problem here is that my 87 yr. old mother will be > here. Guest guest
Thanks, Sharon. We do have city water and I'll have to check out the shut off you are talking about. Seems to me I recall reading something about that feature. I asked my plumber about a yr. ago but he didn't seem to know anything about it. I'll have to dig further. Thanks, again, for the info. I'd love a house made of plastic, sitting high on stilts, no basement, my washer in the garage, etc. No worries of any kind. Wouldn't that be wonderful?! Guest guest
Hi Alice, Have hit a wall with the gaba/thyroid link at the moment. Is that what you are asking about? As per your thyroid issue, I wouldn't speculate on that. Regardless of the form of treatment, the first thing to do would be to get a blood test to more specifcally determine thyroid function. You need to check tsh levels and the t3 and t4 and work with someone who understands the tests itself. Some docs only deal with tsh and that is an incomplete picture. Also, adrenal issues can also exascerbate thyroid. You might also want to be checked for that as well. The mix of hyper and hypo symptoms could mean earyl stage hashitmotos. That is an auto-immune thyroid problem that is quite different than hypothyroidism. I can't be too adamant about this as to leave this unchecked could cause other issues as well. I speak from experience there. Be well, Sam Alice Frost <alicefrost1947@...> wrote: One of my doctors thought I was hyperthyroid but I also have some symptoms of hypothyroid. I've been taking them for 4 months now but I felt much much better by the first month. Ayurvedic works for me and not for everybody but I'd certainly give it a try. Guest guest
Hi Sue, I don't know what to tell you there. If the B-12 seems to have helped, you could take both. But if there is sufficient B-12 in the complex, you might try just the complex. You could always add it back if necessary. Vitamins are such an individual thing. When my daughter and I started having problems, we did not know about the mold that was in our home. I just went to that book, looked through the charts and took a chance on the B-1 and it worked for us. How does the calcium gluconate work for you and how much do you take of it and magnesium? I used to take Natrol's My Favorite Multiple but they just recently changed the formula and it contains wheat now, so I have to figure something else out. Most multiples do not have enough calcium. Guest guest
I'll stick with the B-complex I think along with the B-1. The caldium gluconate has magnesium in it. I don't know how much but Dr. S recommended it to me. I've heard that you need the magnesium to absorb the calcium. I also take a multi vitamin daily and a probiotic which has really helped with intestines. Sue Hi Sue, I don't know what to tell you there. If the B-12 seems to have helped, you could take both.
