Guest guest
I have had this dizzinness also. It especially worse when I lay my left ear on the pillow. I actually take a bathrobe and build a pillow leaving the left ear a indentation to rest in. Crazy? I think so also. I think I will try the potassium and some magnesium, see if it makes a difference. I have also had a problem with the inner ear. One other thing I have wondered, is the Chem stuff being dropped from the air to control. the weather. Drink a lot of water sharon It could be an Iron deficiency or a Potassium deficiency or Sugar burnout or . . .
Guest guest
We treat Meniere's at the clinic. Meniere's might not apply to you, but doing the following couldn't hurt. A low salt diet helps some patients. Kit Recommended Adult Lifestyle Changes To Reduce The Frequency Of Episodes * Avoid alcohol, caffeine, excessive fatigue, smoking, and streess * Eat properly * Get plenty of sleep * Remain physically active If you have vertigo without warning, you should not drive, because failure to control the vehicle may be hazardous to yourself and others. Safety may require you to forego ladders, scaffolds, and swimming. http://www.entnet.org/healthinfo/balance/meniere.cfm > > I have had this dizzinness also. Guest guest
I had one neurologist tell me that I had mild Meniere's. I've had a lot of trouble with doctors and meds so I went to my psychiatrist to try and sort it out. He is very down to earth. Asked me if they did any tests to determine that diagnosis and of course the answer was no. So, I still don't know what the cause of my dizziness is. marySuzanne <suziesgoats@...> wrote: So Kit, what herbs do you all use if it is just vertigo and not meniere'skitcurtin <kitcurtin@...> wrote: We treat Meniere's at the clinic. Guest guest
Well...if you were going to go the Western single herb approach it appears that Gingko leaf (not nut) would be the approach. But I'd check to make sure of the contra-indications and if any apply before rushing out for some. We never give single herbs so that's not a question that would be answerable in Chinese Med. We never treat just the condition but the whole person. We would look at what might be causing the vertigo it often involves what we call Phelgm or Phlegm-Damp or Turbid-Phlegm. Depending on the other things going on with the px, that would give you your choices for a formula. Like say, you wouldn't want to give a person with heat symptoms warm or hot herbs for vertigo and vice versa a person with cold signs, cold herbs. Or a person with Spleen (Chinese Spleen) Deficiency cloying, heavy herbs....that sort of thing. Also..... ....vertigo could be caused by Liver Yang Rising then you'd include Liver Pacifying herbs in the formula. It could be caused by Blood deficiency so you'd put Blood Tonics in the formula. It could be from Internal Wind...then Wind Dispelling and Liver Pacifying herbs. Could be Kidney Deficiency(Tonify Kidney)...Blood Stagnation (Move Blood)...etc. etc. Then the above are just the basic categories of the herbs....all herbs have 2-3 major subcategories and as many as a half dozen additional 'off-uses'. (Chinese herbs have been tough on my menopausal brain...in fact those are the herbs I'm on now....brain tonics) 15 people could come in with vertigo as the chief complaint and they could walk out with 15 totally different formulas. I tried to find a good case study of one of these but no luck...I'll look some more. Here's something for Meniere's ...might help in understanding....it lists the herbs for pill form. It puts it in a more understandable form. And, I've seen a different one for Meniere's with gingko leaf as the main ingredient. (http://www.spanda.com/Products/11/271/7/597839457/) " One of these formulas is Clear Eye & Sharp Ear, originally called Yiqi Congming Tang, meaning " Soup that make the patient bright " . It is made of extracts from astragalus root, pueraria root, seashore vitex, common peony root, cimicifuge, phellodendron, licorice, cnidium, Chinese angelica root (Dong Quai) and ginseng. If you suffer from Meniere's syndromes, Hydrops labyrinthi, cervical spondylopathy, cerebral arteriosclerosis, secretory otitis media, streptomycin reaction, tinnitus, stiff neck, or achromatopsia, this is the remedy. Traditional Chinese way to deal with these health difficulties is ·to increase cerebral blood flow , in order to improve the functions of the brain; ·to increase orientation memory , liberal remembering of diagram and meaningless diagram recognition memory in case of cerebral arteriosclerosis; ·increase the excitability of cerebral cortex; ·decrease the total serum cholesterol, triglycerine, content of LPO in brain and heart tissue, increase the HDL in serum and SOD content in these tissues, lessen the formation of plague and thrombus formation and improves blood viscosity, and ·lower blood lipid , increase hematocrit, and accelerate RBC electrophoresis. http://www.taoofherbs.com/articles/52/ClearEyeSharpEar_QigeCongming.htm You can see it's not just a symptomatic approach to vertigo. Does that help? Kit > We treat Meniere's at the clinic. > > Meniere's might not apply to you, but doing the following couldn't > hurt. A low salt diet helps some patients. Guest guest
actually it does help... A while back DH had it... of course, no doctors, but no "voo doo drs" (that is what he calls me..lol.).. either... He took motion sickness OTC drugs... helped a bit.. but mostly I think the little rest he got and time and he continued to work, be active etc as much as possible (more than I would have been able to do)... But was just thinking down the road... I snuck garlic and different things into the food ... one day he finally said... "Have you been putting stuff in my food, my vertigo seems to have pretty much disappeared" Of course I had to admit to some.... but he doesn't go the raw route.. although he does he better than most... and does love salad veggies, and most greens..kitcurtin <kitcurtin@...> wrote: Well...if you were going to go the Western single herb approach itappears that Gingko leaf (not nut) would be the approach.
