Guest guest
Greg, The allergist I see highly recommends it and uses it as a supplemental form of testing when she feels she needs to. I may be using it myself at some point, as she wants to further determine what senstivities I have beyond her own testing which is EAV. If I take the tests I will let you know. dreaminginnoother <dreaminginnoother@...> wrote: Has anyone here had any experience with the ALCAT food sensitivity test or any others like it? I would like to try it, but want to know if it is worth the $400 I would have to drop. Thanks for any info anyone can give. greg --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search. Guest guest
I only know one person who has done that test. He turned up sensitive to umpteen foods, and is now trying to avoid them all, and going nuts from hating his diet, even though he was NOT having any symptoms from eating those foods! Plus his newly restricted diet has him eating tons of grain carbs simply on the basis of not being sensitive to them, supposedly. So he is having a lot more trouble iwth hypoglycemia. Seemed like a worse than total waste of time and money to me, and that person is now sicker than he was before. Does that make ANY sense to anyone? sol dreaminginnoother wrote: > Has anyone here had any experience with the ALCAT food sensitivity > test or any others like it? Guest guest
I had ALCAT test one year ago and it helped me very much. It was fist sorce of info about my Candida infection which nobody was able diagnose before that. I also have many other intolerances to food, molds and chemicals. Avoidance helped me to reduce terrible bloating bc of intolerances and disbyosis. Now when I cured candida, disbyosis and allergies with meds and probiotics I don`t have bloating. I still have some intolerances but some of them I don`t feel any more. I have tried elimination diet but it is too difficult to do with so many intolerances. And you can eliminate chemicals and molds at all. Now i am able to take even molds, it seems that intolerance is not so severe.Intolerances are dangerous thing and it should be addressed. > > Has anyone here had any experience with the ALCAT food sensitivity > > test or any others like it? Guest guest
No it doesn't as I'm pretty sure that one of the things that alcat advertises is that they help you to find the optimum diet to fascilitate health and weightloss. I don't know how valid the tests are. Your friend may actually be reactive to these items, but obviously thew alcat people don't know alot about what to recommend in terms of diet itself. Duncan, correct me please, but isn't it possible to be very reactive to mutliple foods in part because of immune suppression and if that is true, would building the immune system lessen the reaction? And can you do that while still on reactive foods or do you have to avoid all of them as a test like Alcat would recommend? Sol, I sympathize and emapthize with yoour friend and am having similar dietary problems between allergies, delayed alllergies, candida, and having hashimotos I need to be careful about fiber and minerals within a few hours of taking the thyoird meds as they absorb them. I took the Eliza/Act test a while back which is a different animal. This is a blood test for more subtle delayed reactions to foods and environmental substances that can occur hours or days after ingesting them. I had about 13 items to avoid as opposed to hundreds from traditional tests. There's alot to ingest in this area of allergic respnse and for sure it is hard to know what the most valid forms of testing are. Any thoughts out there about what the most accurate allergy tests are? Thanks, sol <solbun@...> wrote: I only know one person who has done that test. Guest guest
There is a lot of disagreement on the validity of most food sensitivity tests. Some people have taken multiple different tests and gotten completely different results. ALCAT seems to be the one with the least conflict around it because of it's relatively high reproducibility and reliability. Their site is the only one that actually has several studies to back its claims. I agree that most sensitivities will arise from immune suppression or dysbiosis and I have a feeling I will be one of those with a huge list of sensitive foods. My idea though, and also the recommendations of the site, is that you avoid the problem foods for 3-5 months until your body can heal itself to handle that food again. greg > I only know one person who has done that test. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Here's a link that describes what EAV is. http://www.nihadc.com/joomla/content/view/40/173/ It'll be alot more intelligent a statement than I could explain. I can tell you that the EAV tests that I've had were quite accurate and amazing to watch. Very specific to allergens, immune function and organs affected. I will add that my allergies after a 1 1/2 years have not improved. I've been on prescribed allergy serums either in drop form or shots. But, I also have been dealing with living in an area that is bad for allergies and mold and we are in the midst of remediating our home which for almost the same length of time has been impacted by construction damage to a new roof install that months later led to water and mold damage. I've been out of our house for two months now, but even in our temp place there is slight mold issues as no mold places are not easy to find. So, it's probably more because of the area and my situation that I haven't improved. I have thought of looking into other allergy treatments. Possibly an environmental allegist. Anyone have any experience there? Thanks, Sharon Jerdee <srjerdee@...> wrote: Re: ALCAT test anyone? > Greg, > > The allergist I see highly recommends it and uses it as a supplemental > form of testing when she feels she needs to. Guest guest
So you would recommend it, thanks. I also have recently been recommended the LEAP/MRT testing. I think I want to do one of these tests, but now I think it's a matter of which one. greg > > > Has anyone here had any experience with the ALCAT food > sensitivity > > > test or any others like it?
