Guest guest
Here's something from another list I am on. Thought this would generate some discussion on a new topic: Acids and Bases The concept of acidity is one that is very important in science, and in chemistry in particular. It is also one which most people are familiar with, even if they don't realize it. Many foods are slightly acidic, usually foods which are "tangy" or sharp like lemons (citric acid) or vinegar (ethanoic acid). Ethanoic acid is also the source of the sharp taste in wine that has been left open. The alcohol (ethanol) is oxidised to ethanoic acid. Bases (or alkalis) are the opposites of acids and are found in many household goods, like oven cleaner, bicarbonate of soda (baking soda), and toothpaste! It is also useful to know that a bee sting is acidic and a wasp sting is alkali. To treat a sting by one of these you should use the opposite type of chemical. Guest guest
Truly an interesting topic and stress can affect the balance...me and my adrenal harp..... " Additionally, stress plus adrenal insufficiency cause acidosis - and acidosis makes it difficult for the cells of the body to absorb any nutrients which are ingested - meaning less nutrition, further adrenal weakness - further acid conditions, etcetera, etcetera, and so forth! " http://vitaminlady.com/Articles/Adrenalstress.asp Deep breathing will alkalinize the body. Conversely, prolonged hyperventilation (not deep breathing!) may cause temporary alkalosis (respiratory alkalosis), causing anxiety and a feeling that one can't get enough air. Breathe into a bag, then inhale the air from the bag...that will correct the chemical imbalance. Kit > Here's something from another list I am on.
