Man...I gotta watch those blanks!

Hi Anne,

You said " often " ...do you remember from what source? ...as in

Naturopath? ....Nutritionist? ...other?

From what I've read our restorative (healing) sleep happens at the

Delta (coma-like) stage so it would depend on when you enter it and

how long you're in it.

Some people don't get into the Delta stage on a regular basis and have

it pretty hard in life. Others, may be able to get to it rather

quickly and stay there for much of their sleeping time.

As far as Circadian, I'm not sure about other disciplines, but in TCM

we look at when a person might be waking regularly in the night. Folks

often have regular wake cycles. Most people, if they're waking at

all, wake during the Liver(1-3a) or Lung (3-5a) hours. The waking

hour will help confirm a diagnosis of an organ system disharmony.

It is hard for me to stay awake after 10...which makes me a party

pooper...LOL

Anne,

You might not have a detectable problem in Western med....but you

could have a disharmony (refers to the energetic functions associated

with the Lung meridian system, not to the Lung organ itself)....that

might eventually lead to a problem.

It could mean that your respiration is weakened and normal qi (energy)

production is affected, leading to qi deficiency.

There are other functions of the Lungs in TCM like controlling

sweating, for one.

Do you have any of these symptoms:

Frequent sore throats/colds

Frequent rhinitis or sinusitis

Cough with or without phlegm

Frequent throat clearing or laryngitis

Morning attacks of coughing or sneezing with clear phlegm or mucus

discharge

Dry skin and mucous membrane, especially of face, nose, and mouth

Edema, particularly in upper body

Tendency to eczema, asthma

Shortness of breath, chest pain or wheezing in chest from fatigue or

exertion

Problems with urination (retention)

Easily disappointed or offended

Craves spicy, juicy, sweet foods and stimulants

Aggravations from heat, cold and dryness

Sadness, or grief

but have been known to sleep later at times. I am short of breath

when I wake up early but I don't know if I have lung problems or not.

Maybe I should check this out further.

Well, I used to be bright eyed and bushy tailed in the a.m.... the alarm would go off and I was up... as I've gotten older I hit the alarm a number of times before I finally get up... And where I would be in bed by 10 and asleep... now I gain energy at nite (feel like a owl) and if I get tired, and lay down.. I'm wide awake.. lol.. i know I'm wierd.. of course they say the body/system changes every 7 years... could be a change.kitcurtin <kitcurtin@...> wrote:

This is an interesting thread!!!

We usually settle down for sleep around 8 or 9, and I wake up at 11, fall right back asleep and am awake for good at 3. You could set your clock by it. As soon as I wake up, I look at the clock, and 9 times out of 10, it is on the minute.

Interesting.......

Peace, love, laughter
