Guest guest
Oh, and I forgot to ask--I know you said you didn't make the full 21 days--but how did you feel on the days you were on it, and do you think doing it the less amount of days still helped you? Thanks -------Original Message------- This fast is prescribed for chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, rheumatism and a number of other conditions, but a number of the testimonials reported that they treated candida aswell. Guest guest
Hi Firtstly, I wanted to note that I looked up this juice fast again -a nd it WAS specifically for candida, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome etc - contrary to what I said in an earlier post. It's in a book by hilde hemmes called " detox and live " . I stopped the fast because I wanted to try out this 'liver detox' which is supposed to work overnight. It had been recommended to me by a naturopath - I hadnt realized the same one was being talked about here. And by the way it really does work - lots of little green stones came out the other end. To answer your questions - the fast is nothing like one would imagine it to be - drinking only juice. One would imagine it to be unbearable and impossible to do, causing weakness etc. In fact, the hunger subsides after the first three days or so, and there are cravings for half an hour or so (say once a day) for a few days after that -but it's not that hard to stick to. It's actually quite wierd - you go along during the day quite O.K despite the fact that you've had nothing but jusice for the past two weeks. I was quite flabergasted. I thought to myself - I wonder what people would think if they knew I hadnt eaten for two weeks - but there were periods of light headedness. There were times I felt a bit light headed, but I put my head between my knees for a moment and then felt better. It''s hard to make a statement about energy because I had a huge operation a couple of months ago and have felt weak ever since. However, at worst, the fast prevented me from using a lot of energy for a long period of time. But I would walk for an hour and a half and gently swim 15 laps of the pool. But I'd say it would have stopped me from say jogging or playing a vigorous game of basket-ball once I was well into the fast - (in my case that was beyond me anyway). I had enough energy to get the things done I needed to get done -shopping, the dishes etc. But I'd have to say that it left me " less strong " and unable to sustain tasks requiring high energy input for a long time. (eg I couldnt run a marathon) Even though I was on the fast properly for around half the tiime, I am in a far healthier state than when I went on it. I was in a really bad way and the 'fast' enabled me to make significant headway. In particular, I can feel that my digestive system significantly healed. I know that sounds really wierd that a 'fast' would have such an effect. But thats what I read - I tried it out of desperation - and it delivered just as it promised. Doing the fast for half the time didnt eliminate the candida - I can still feel the slime around my teeth. However, the reports of people who did eliminate their candida, only did so after the 21 days. Guest guest
Hi Helen. Thanks for the insights. I did a 10 day Master Cleanse fast so I know how it feels to go that long on just juices. You are right, after the first 3 days of detoxing I felt great and not hungry anymore. But just wondered what it would be like for 21 days. :-) The master cleanse is the same juice every day--for your detox cleanse it is the same juice every day, too? I will look for the book and read it. THanks. Guest guest
Hi Tina Beleive it or not - the even more interesting protocol that worked overnight, by co-incidence, happened to be the 'liver detox' that had been much talked about on this site - I just never read that thread. I got the instructions from somewhere else (I'm not sure if they are exactly the same) - but overnight, I DID pass around a hundred small green stones. According to the original author who published this 'recipe', this process is supposed to dramatically improve digestion which is the basis of one's health in natural medicine. I thought it made more sense to get my liver cleaned up first so that other protocols (in my case the 'juice fast' which detoxes through the liver) would work better. When I had my 'cancer operation', surgeons saw all these lesions in my liver and thought it was the cancer spread. I got a hundred of these little stones out (but I'm guessing there are hundreds more left). I bet that's what they were. They looked just like the spots in the scans. Tell me if you would like me to send you my version of this recipe - (the one from the original author). Guest guest
Hi I kept on mine for 14 days and didnt feel any different than when I had been on for 10 days. It was really interesting in that I felt I could have gone on without any real difficulty. In other people's accounts however, the difference with being on for 21 days is that you experience some real healing as opposed to just detoxing and cleaning up your system- eg. eyesight clears up if it is blurry, and hopefully candida. I'm so amazed that when I try all these practices in alternative medicine that (at least in my case), they deliver as promised. It's actually a very lonely and isolating experience because most people would not believe it so I have no-one to share the experience with - this is as close as it gets to sharing with someone Hugs. Guest guest
Hi Helen, I am new to this group. My son has candida issues. He was a preemie who was very small for his age. His Gastroenterologist was bent of fattening him suggesting many scoops of enfamil/similac with little water which in turn made him lactose intolerant and now has ended up with candida. He is 11 now. He is mostly on rice-based diet with some protein. Can you suggest any detox method. He does tune-out a lot which I think is due to candida. Thanks. shanti > > However I have my own personal experience where I stuck to the fast for > 14 days, and although I didnt finish (becasue I found an even more > interesting protocol that I wanted to try which worked overnight) my > health and leaky gut improved enormously. > > Would you mind sharing the protocol that worked overnight? > > Thank you, > > Tina > > > > > > Make the switch to the world's best email. Guest guest
Hi Helen. I totally understand about how you feel when there's no one close to you that you can share your non-normal experiences with. :-) Been like that most of my life. I wonder if the timing of 21 days for when " real " healing takes place has anything to do with how long it takes to regenerate gut cells? Or they say it takes 21 days to make a change into a habit? Seems like 21 days is some magical number for us humans, huh? :-) I do want to mention a great confirmation in how alternatives work. My husband found out that he had diverticulitis, a very very bad case. Which was weird because he's never had an inkling of this! Anyway, he had to go into the ER a month ago because of pain and that's when they found out he had this. They put him on antibiotics and IV only for 5 days and sent him home, hoping it would clear up a bit in 6 weeks, when they had scheduled him to go back in to have a section of his bowel removed. We both felt that if it in fact cleared up in 6 weeks there'd be no need to have the operation. So he worked really hard on an alternative program I figured out for him. Supplements, tinctures, liquid diet of broth and veggie juices. He was feeling great for 2 weeks and then started getting some pains again. After a week of this he had to go back to the ER. More tests showed that it had gotten worse rather than better and they scheduled him for his surgery. We were very disappointed, thinking that the 2 weeks had been for nothing, and I was wondering why the heck all the good things he had been doing had not worked. Then he asked the doc how did his urine test turn out. The doc said it was really good, considering that his bowel was so bad that normally everything in the area usually gets infected, but that his sample only had 3 or 4 white blood cells. Meaning that even though it should have showed infection it was pretty darn clean. And then--my husband asked how his blood test came out. The doctor paused, got a funny look on his face and said " well, that's the amazing thing (his words). Your blood is perfectly healthy. If someone looked at your blood test and then your scan they'd swear they were from 2 different people. It s just strange that your blood is so clean when your bowel is so bad " . We laughed and I told him that we were doing " stuff " at home. Then my husband said " I've been slamming echinacea " . The doc started to laugh till he saw that my husband was serious, then he said " you know you are not suppose to tell a doctor those things " , smiled and walked away. So at least I know that though we didn't get a chance to catch his problem in enough time to save all his colon (his surgeon, yesterday after surgery told me that it was one of the worst she had ever seen) we certainly were on the right track with all the alternatives, and I know now that it helped make him much stronger for the surgery.
