Guest guest
If you're adding the DMSO, then NO.. as the beeswax will absorb down thru the skin also. Guest guest
Hi Gayla, I think you'll end up with a real mess..oil and wax don't mix. Propolis would be your best bee product choice...or Royal Jelly(pricey tho), the cosmetic industry uses alot of it.....do you have hives? Kit NATURAL MEDICINAL PROPERTIES OF PROPOLIS Propolis is anti-viral, antibiotic (it's known as `nature's penicillin'); anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and an immune stimulator. Propolis has been shown to fight bacterial strains that have become resistant to synthetic antibiotics. Some doctors are combining it with antibiotics which increases the antibiotic's effectiveness tenfold. It has also been shown to have anti-tumour effects. WHAT DOES PROPOLIS CONTAIN? With the exception of Vitamin K and sulphur, Propolis contains all the known vitamins and all of the 14 minerals required by the body. Like Royal Jelly and Bee Pollen, the compounds in Propolis work together synergistically to create a perfectly balanced nutritive substance. It also contains 16 amino acids and 500 more bioflavonoids than are found in oranges. Of particular interest is its ability to protect vitamin C from being destroyed. WHAT IS IT USED FOR? Propolis is primarily used for: • Allergies – Immune stimulator • Bruising – Anti inflammatory • Burns – Anti Bacterial and anti inflammatory • Cancer – Anti Tumour • Herpes Zoster - Anti Viral • Fatigue – Antioxidant • Sore throats • Nasal congestion • Respiratory ailments/infections • Acne • Skin disorders (Ringworm and Fungi) • Sun burn • Shingles • Flu/colds and coughs • Ulcers/stomach ulcers http://www.dischem.co.za/cfm/articles.cfm?ipkCategoryID=9 & ipkArticleID=114 > I am wondering about adding beeswax to the Deep Tissue, Muscle and Bone Repair Oil formula. Guest guest
Thanks Kit. Oil and beeswax do mix. When I make certain salves, I gently melt the beeswax into the oil. But I will look into propolis. I am looking for something to thicken it so it is not just an oil. Guest guest
You have to keep it at cool temps....in the winter my coconut oil is a white solid...in the summer it's a clear oil. Guest guest
Nothing to do except add the wax to warmed oil and stir occasionally until it dissolves. Be careful to not add too much. I put a spoon into the freezer and to test the mixture, dip the edge of the spoon into the oil/wax mixture. When it feels just a little too soft, I quit adding wax. The first time I used it, it was too stiff and not easy to put onto tender skin. Wax is the last step in making a salve, so the oil will have all the wonderful herbs in it already as well as any essential oils and Vitamin E. And no, I do not keep bees. My grandfather did, but I have not followed in his footsteps in this. Guest guest
If you want it spreadable refrigerated coconut oil would work....personally, since coconut oil is used in skin topicals often I would think the mix would be OK.....I think we'll have to wait for Suzi on this...I'm no DMSO expert.
