Guest guest
I've looked into splenda as well. The splenda website, of course makes it sound wonderful, but there are others who feel it's quite dangerous. One site I think that covers this is Dr. Mercola's website, if you're interested in both sides of the story. I'm definitely taking a wait and see approach. Guest guest
, I don't remember which books you have read. The Complete Blood Type Encyclopedia and also the Nutrition base online at www.dadamo.com say the same thing. They have the latest information. Dextrose is not an avoid only for Blood Type A. When you get to the Dadamo site you will look for Nutrition on the left hand side. After you click on that it will be the 2nd listing. Heidi gave these instructions in using it. The place to go to find out a food's updated value is TYPEbase3®, linked here and from the home page, www.dadamo.com. This is where we maintain the authoritative food values list, so if you're wondering whether food XYZ is OK for your type, check TYPEbase3®. Remember to hit the " search " button on that page... hitting your keyboard's " enter " key will not bring up the answer to your query. Re: Splenda I am confused. Guest guest
> I am confused. I thought sugar was a neutral.....isn't that what > dextrose and sucralose are???? > (newbie) There are a lot of forms of sugar, but not all of them are supposed to be consumed. What is called white/brown sugar comes from cane or sugarbeet, it is neutral for secretors and avoid for nons. Dextrose is derived from corn and it is an avoid for all O's. I am not sure about sucralose, but it is surely another type of sugar. It would be worth finding out your secretor status, because being a nonsecretor makes things even more restrictive: only molasses are neutral, all the others are avoids. Guest guest
Just by typing in the word, " Splenda, " you'll get numerous websites about this sweetener. You'll see good and bad reporting on it. I had considered it for myself at one time, but after I read some of the information myself, I was too afraid to try it; especially when there are many other and safer alternatives to try. If you have any problems researching it, I'll supply you with some sites that I found. Eilene *_* > Does anyone have any idea whether or not this stuff (Splenda) is " ok " for > you? Guest guest
Thanks so much to all who've replied so far. I'm looking for a sweetener alternative to use in deserts (cakes etc) for my partner and child! So difficult! Guest guest
has anyone tried the vegetable glycerine? just wondered what it tastes like. As for splenda it's not really a " chemical " per se... it's a " modified " sugar.. I believe they take a molecule off the sugar so it doesn't get that insulin reaction.. (I'm not saying it's good or bad tho it does taste better than nutra sweet in icecrea... uh .. in some foods <grin>) Also besides Stevia I've recently heard of Agave sweetner that's supposed to taste like honey but not have the reaction and has a low carb count (comparatively) I think 9g per T. - not great but I think its supposed to be twice as sweet as sugar so you'd use less.... I thought it was something new and maybe I could use > it. > I'll stay with Splenda for now, until they can come up with something > better. If you are using Splenda you might want to read the following article at the Mercola Site. http://mercola.com/2003/nov/8/splenda_dangers.htm He lists a summary of research that is actually from another article (http://mercola.com/2000/dec/3/sucralose_dangers.htm ): Splenda is far from healthy and I do not recommend using it in any form. Why not use Splenda? Well, research in animals has shown that sucralose can cause many problems such as: * Shrunken thymus glands (up to 40 percent shrinkage) * Enlarged liver and kidneys * Atrophy of lymph follicles in the spleen and thymus * Increased cecal weight * Reduced growth rate * Decreased red blood cell count * Hyperplasia of the pelvis * Extension of the pregnancy period * Aborted pregnancy * Decreased fetal body weights and placental weights * Diarrhea
Guest guest
Splenda is sugar that has been chemically treated to pass through your body. It is an avoid unless that designation has been changed lately.

Sharon I was diagnosee with FM myself and am doing much better. Sorry, I do not know what Splenda is, but I probably wouldn't consume it. I have eliminated caffeine, alcohol, and anything which I don't make from scratch myself. (I do eat out on occasion but it usually protein and steamed vegis, and maybe rice). I drink only spring water in glass (not plastic). I make myself get enough exercise and be sure I arrange my life to get enough sleep. Guest guest
Does anyone get sick, headaches or chest pains from splenda? I haven't been feeling well and that's the only thing I have changed! nj I haven't had any problems with Splenda. I use it all of the time. Are these symptoms something that is recent? There has been a lot of flu going around here (southern Wisconsin) and the symptoms are somewhat similar to what you describe. Dacia <>< The Word became a human being. He made his home with us. Guest guest
I use lots of artificial sweeteners and it doesn't seem to bother me. This week I've been sucking down Fruit 2 O which is water with a little fruit flavoring and Splenda. A light taste but more palatable than plain water. I know you purists will say it's not as good as plain water but you're not getting your recommended daily allowance of sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate! Hey, don't knock it. I've drunk more water this week than in the last month combined. Ann
