Guest guest
Is it infected? Soaking in epsom salts and warm water helps.. cutting the nail properly also (straight across)... If infected, try some super tonic or tea tree oil. Bandage, wear shoes that do not bind the toes.runutts2000 <runutts2000@...> wrote: does anyone have any advice to this?__________________________________________________
Guest guest
> does anyone have any advice to this? When I lost a toenail, to prevent it from growing into my skin I slathered cream all over top of nail and sides, then covered with a bandaid. I did this anew every day. That was the 'second coming' because on the first try I did nothing and the whole nail appeared to be growing into my skin....I had the whole toenail removed...gone again!!! I don't recommend if you can help it....after the anethesia wore off I was in sooooo much pain. Now I see why it's a torture device. Starting over I did the above and everything was fine. Anyway after all this, the point would be to soften everything up and lift the corner up. I was prepared to put cotton gauze under mine if it happened. If not possible you may have to lift it up and clip then do the daily softening thing til it's back to behaving itself. Kit also found this..... Treatment To treat an infected ingrown toenail, soak your foot in warm, soapy water several times each day. You may need to gently lift the edge of the ingrown toenail from its embedded position and insert some cotton or waxed dental floss between the nail and your skin. Change this packing every day. If your infection is severe, your doctor may prescribe a course of antibiotics. Learn how to trim your toenails properly. Wear clean socks and open-toed shoes, such as sandals. Prevention You can lower your risk of developing an ingrown toenail by trimming your toenails straight across with no rounded corners. The length of your toenail should extend out past your skin. The top of each nail should form a straight line across, level with the top of your toe. Some additional guidelines for preventing ingrown toenails include: * Don't pick at your toenails or tear them off. * Make sure your shoes and socks are not too tight. * Keep your feet clean at all times. http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/fact/thr_report.cfm?Thread_ID=197 & topcategory=Foot
Guest guest
A neighbor I used to have was the widow of a podiatrist. She said to take a toothpick and stuff cotton down the ingrown side as much as you can (as much as pain will allow). Do not cut out the ingrown part as that will not let it grow out and heal. The cotton will ease the pressure within a few days and it will grow out normally. To ease pressure, you can cut the nail in an inverted V shape, so there is a dip in the center, not on the sides. Guest guest
Super Tonic is a natural antibiotic and immune system builder/booster. The recipe is in the Files section of this lists home page. I use it, among other things, to wash out wounds before applying whatever other care is called for, be it cayenne to stop bleeding, a poultice, or even just a bandage. We also use it daily orally for an immune system boost. Peace, love, laughter Donna <dohernandez2000@...> wrote: What is super tonic?
