Guest guest
I posted your abscess question on a kombucha tea list and here's what they had to say.............(graphic grossness follows)They may be better off to just wait for it to come to a head naturally... if it is moving that way by itself-- or just hold the cat and lay on hands with the intention of drawing the abscess out to the skin. Once it's opened up, it's good to syringe in hydrogen peroxide and then a strong solution of Betadine, followed by a syringing of filtered water to clear the chemicals. Kombucha cream (scoby blended to pudding consistency) applied after that might be helpful but you don't want it to close up to fast so maybe not. I have a lot of experience with cat abscesses and the syringing of chemicals really is important because of the anaerobic nature of the abscess-- this technique was taught to me by a friend who was a vet. Syringe at least once a day as long as there is an opening in the skin... vets will say to pick the scab to keep it open and draining. I've been in situations where I didn't have betadine and only used the hydrogen peroxide, and that actually worked fine.If the person is willing to experiment I would be curious about syringing in KT as the final step. It certainly would not hurt anything and might be a real boon. The ideal syringe is a particular type that has a curved, pointed end specifically for this task, but a small syringe with a small blunt end will work, just less easily.
