Guest guest
I find that the die-off from nystatin is so horriffic, I can't take even the smallest amount. Suggest that you switch to a herbal anti-fungal. I read in one of my many health realted books, that if you cant take nystatin, then take grapeseed and milk-thistle for a week or two first, then you can manage the nystatin. The author (Dr sandra cabot) is a very reputable medical and alternative health practitioner in Austalia and has authored many books. However, I havent persoanlly tried this remedy. Helen what kind of die-off do you get? I got snap-crackle- popping under the skin all night, creepy-crawlies, feeling like my blood is gurgling in a drain, stinging eyes, burning feet (one at a time), pins and needles in my arms and legs, beestings on my head, stabbies on the left side of my face and left foot. All gets a lot stronger right after Nystatin or probiotics. In the first weeks, my mind got much calmer and I felt a lot of whooshing sensations. Also, if I inadvertently eat something off the diet, I get the same symptoms for a minute or less. I'm just wondering because I have or had (not sure) Lyme and a coinfection too, so I want to know if these are typical candida die-off symptoms. The herx isn't accumulating, unlike with some Lyme treatments I did, because the Nystatin doesn't build up in the blood. I'm also wondering about the efficacy of Nystatin vs. Diflucan. Thanks. Guest guest
Have you tried Caprylic Acid? It can be started at very low dose, and then titrated up slowly. sol
Guest guest
Thanks--now that it's been a month the die-off is much less. The other night I took my usual liquid calcium/D and had this weird burning in my arms (maybe that's good?). Then I felt like jelly and had a backache the next day. Since then, much less herxing, except on virgin coconut oil. The Nystatin does almost nothing now but one teaspoon of the oil really flares me--less than it did before though. The grapeseed and milk thistle sound like a good idea. I think going on the diet for a few mos. before taking antifungals would have been a good idea too--but it's too late now. I'm still on the diet. My new CFS dr. astutely put me on Nystatin, I had no idea I had candida but I started herxing. He also did not mention diet, I ended up learning that on my own thanks to the Internet and the book The Yeast Syndrome. I've also been doing Candigone herbal treatment and probiotics of course. Coconut oil is wayyy stronger than Nystatin, I read it's like Diflucan. I want to get up to 3 tablespoons but that could take a while. This herx is different than the herxes I got from Lyme and babesiosis treatment. Those built up to 2 mos. of misery each from various treatments (including herbal one which was mostly allicin from garlic--that was the biggest herx of all! I had to cut the dose by 50%) whereas this starts and ends every day and starts again the next and is really bad but not quite as horrific! At least as I feel bad, I also start to feel better each day. I've heard activated charcoal is good for herxing but I didn't try it. Guest guest
Thanks--the Candigone has it and I think coconut oil too. I probably should have gone slower but in just 4 weeks I feel much less candida-ridden! Also on Armour Thyroid now, but I wonder if my thyroid will naturally get better after killing the yeasties. Has anyone had experience with this? Vicky > > Have you tried Caprylic Acid?
