Guest guest
Hi, . Atkin's diet is very good at eliminating yeast. You basically east meats and veggies. He does say fats are important (and they are), but you can reduce saturated fat intake and increase omega 3, 6, and 9s. Buy the book before you dive in because it's so much more than just that. You would probably want to ease into any diet - you want to avoid die-off symptoms. I had it the 3rd time I did Atkins. It was a nightmare (flu-like symptoms). It means your body isn't excreting toxins from dead yeast cells. You can take activated charcoal (never tried it), but I would still recommend going slowly. As for cholesterol in eggs, it's not the cholesterol in foods that increase your cholesterol in the body - it's mainly carbs and fat combination .It's also the ratio between the good and the total that counts. My family has a history of high cholesterol, and no one has a history of heart disease. Mine is usually around 230. The ratio is usually above 3, which is good. When I was doing Atkins, if I remember correctly, my overall cholesterol remained fairly the same despite eating a whole lot of saturated fats, and my good cholesterol went up. My triglycerides went down. Also, cholesterol is just an indicator that you COULD potentially have a heart disease later in life. For example, my father-in-law has normal cholesterol levels (not sure about the ratio though), and his heart was 99% blocked and had to have emergency surgery. I read in a book that half of patients that die from heart disease have normal cholesterol levels, but they all have blockages. HTH!
